Breeding Okay..There is a lady that has a yorkie and she is 2years and she wants to get a male..to go with her..but the male is a stepbrother to the 2year old Yorkie..I am saying they have the same Father...different Mom...so that is not good RIGHT? |
Read this thread. I will see if I can find some more about line breeding for you!:) http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/bre...-breeding.html Here is another thread about line breeding: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/bre...-do-right.html |
Thanks...I didn't want her to get a related Yorkies..I thought she needed to go with a totally different line..even though she likes this breeder. |
If the two dogs have the same father but different mothers then they would be considered half brother and sister. Breeding half brother and sister would be inbreeding and should not be done unless you are very experienced about breeding and really know your lines. I know some show breeders do this but it can be risky. |
If you are breeding a bitch and a dog that share a sire it is inbreeding. Inbreeding should be left only to the most experienced breeders. It will bring out the best and the worst in the sire of the two dogs. One must know the line very, very well to know whether the worst that could come out is worth the risk. I would highly advise against inbreeding. Even if the shared sire is the #1 yorkie in the country it's still not something a novice should attempt. |
thanks..she is not getting the male..that's what I thought it was "inbreeding" |
