| To stud or neuter, what should I do? I have not had Chili neutered because I thought I wanted to breed him. Thanks to all the advice here over the past 1 1/2 years I have realized that I do not have what it takes to be a breeder. Chili will be 2 years old this next December and I would love if he had the opportunity to stud for an experienced breeder. He has all the qualities to be a great stud except the owner’s knowledge and direction. He is 4.3 pounds, AKC registered. His sire is bodacious renegade, dam is Wilson's Abbie Sue. I won’t even begin to list all his qualities because we are all bias anyway. So any advice would be greatly appreciated. I thought I would see if the right breeder felt that he would be a great male for their female to mate with then that would be the direction we would go in. If not then I will get him fixed for his 2nd birthday. Thanks Rebel - Chili's mom

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Can you clarify: are you looking for advice as to whether you should stud or not (which is fine)? Or, are you trying to find someone with whom to mate your guy with here (which isn't allowed here)?

| I guess she can answer this better than me but the way i understood it was that she wanted opinions on whether she should stud him out, and if breeders feel that they would use him then she will just take that as a yes she should stud him out. am I right LOL

| right! I guess I should have worded that differently. I am seeking direction as to what I should do? To breed or neuter? Is Chili an asset that breeders look for in a male. I am not trying to pimp my dog out!

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | LOL! PIMPER! Just wanted to clarify since "stud service" threads aren't allowed here, but it's fine to look for advice like you're doing.

| stud You need to post his pedigree to give a better idea of his line..I have never heard of his parents..but I can tell you right now..unless he is a champion from top of the line pedigree, his genes will not be missed if he is neutered...he is no doubt a wonderful, darling companion, but the truth is t...99% of the studs here could be neutered and the breed would not suffer...the dog world is well supplied with studs to pass on the best genes...please do not take offense, but I do not think I have ever seen a pet male who is that important to the breed, shoot, I have seen lots of champions who do not need to reproduce..they are important to us, but not the Yorkie world. |

| OUCH!!!.....Yorkierose, that is so cold but so true. It's one thing to use your male for breeding if he's an exellent example but quite another to offer him up for stud. |

| Ouch ... never ask me my opinion when it comes to what is best for the breed. I try to say it as gentle as possible and I can try to flower it up a bit next time... I have had males who were from the best pedigrees, pointed, even finished and they could have been neutered and the breed would not suffer. |
