| They don't have to nurse right away...although some do. The whole birthing process is not only tiring for the mothers, but also for the babies. Have you tried holding the puppies up to the nipple or opening their little mouths to latch on?

| Mom's been pretty busy so no nursing yet. She just got the 2nd one cleaned up and is cleaning herself. I gave her some water and will try to get them to nurse when she's done with the clean-up. |

| I agree that you should watch them close. But try to let nature do its thing. They will eat. My vet said that sometimes it is 12 hours before they eat good. Sometimes we are too quick to step in. Congrats on the babies. Sounds like all is fine. |

| Whew, okay. There is one who is latched on and looks like he is never going to let go. The two others I have been holding them up there and they have occasionally be sucking. She is panting, hopefully her fourth one is coming out!

| They're rooting around but haven't latched on yet. The first one, the one that came out feet first, got stuck and I had to pull him out but he seems fine. Last time she had all girls....now it's the boys turn . |

| To both of you grandmothers.....it sounds like everything is going so well. I can't wait till all are out and the beautiful litter pictures are posted. I always feel so calm when the babies are coming. To me...it is the best feeling and experience in the world.

| Pearl's settled down and the boys have found the ninny. Think she's taking a break. She's tired....she strained so hard with the first one she pooped herself a bit. |

| I've been waiting on this day, too, and so has Pearl. She's such a good mom, so proud of her babies. BTW, I'm a grandpa . |

| I bet she is exhausted. My Gidget's first litter, the first puppy was like that. Had to help her out, but the rest came out just fine. I hope the same goes for you too.
