| Signs of labor?????? It has been 8 weeks today since I breed my dog. I think she is in the early stages of labor. I thought I would post this to see if anyone can help me tell for sure this is the first time for both of us. Her signs are pacing back and forth starting to pant a lot not all the time but every few minutes, she wants to go outside every few minutes to go pee. She just can't get comfortable and of course she is digging on a quilt that I have on the couch trying to find a comfortable spot. I'm assuming that all of this is the signs of the first stages of labor. Am I wrong? |

Donating YT 14K Club Member | have you checked her temp? When she's panting, do you feel of her stomach area? If it is hard, she is having contractions. Have you taken her in to the vets to have an x-ray done? This should be able to determine if she can whelp okay.

Donating YT 14K Club Member | I believe that once the rectal temp drops to 98.4 and stays there for a couple of hours, labor should begin within 24 hours.

| I've done everything except take her temp. I'm planning on doing that soon. I'm in the kitchen throwing something together for supper and shes not in here with me, she normally is. I don't know why I didn't think about taking her temp. Her stomach has been hard. Thanks for the input. |

Donating YT 14K Club Member | you need to watch her and have her close by at all times. You don't know if she'll go off somewhere to have them. What if she starts to have complications and you can't find her. Please go look for her.

| Just keep a really really good eye on her. There are lots of signs BUT it is diff. for every female. I checked my females temp. three times daily and she really lied to me a few good times! LOL I found the biggest sign for MY dog is the nesting. As soon as she went in her bed and not laying next to me and started going crazy over getting her blankets/paper just so is when I knew it was time! Good LUCK!! Post photos if you can We ALL love puppies

| I really wasn't expecting her to have them for at least another 4or 5 days. My mom's had hers last year on day 58. I guess they just ran out of room. She has had 2 so far. She should have at leat 1 more. Mom and babies are doing fine. I will get some pictures hopefully posted by tomorrow. |
