I am sorry we cannot seem to convince you that this IS NOT an EASY thing to do. ESPECIALLY with yorkies. Do you know the cost of a c-section? Yorkies are MANY times more likely to need one. MINE DID! I also lost all 3 babies of my first litter and I had a mentor who had been breeding for 30 years. The daddy was smaller than my female which is a good idea with these little guys so they don't have babies too big for them. The babies were less than 2 ounces and I am ashamed to say I lost all 3 as they were too tiny. I read and read and studied and asked questions and was so ready for it. I had my whelping area set up just like my breeder taught me... heating pad, etc... learned how to swing a puppy so it doesn't drown in it's own fluids.. I was SO ready. AND I LOST ALL THREE!! I was devestated! I cried for myself and I cried for my mommy who cried for her babies. Are you ready for that heartache? Those babies she free whelped since they were so tiny. She had one more litter... this time the daddy was bigger and NOT the stud I had planned on. She ended up having 2 beautiful babies which I kept, but that was after $1200 for a c-section, plus $150 for x-rays, then the costs to remove dew claws, and dock the tails..... I had her spayed then because I do not want her to have to go thru that again and I love her enough that I want to enjoy her for years. I know this is not going to change your mind, but I will tell you good luck... I don't think you are going to have much luck here with anyone telling you it is the RIGHT thing to do. I feel for your baby. I just know you have no idea what you are getting into and it is a shame she doesn't have a say in it. If you love your baby so much.. why would you put her thru that when you aren't even respecting her purebred status by mixing her breed. Like someone said, there are so many MUTTS alrready.. WHY would anyone intentionally BREED to get more MUTTS??

Just a quick question no one here likes morkies here in MI where I live I have been told that they sell the same because many dont like to deal with the papers? I have not done this but I did think about it. now I am thinking twice.

you guys make this seem so racist .. and its funny to me .. im not going to tear the whole yorkie breed up by mixing it .. thats to funny .. i am in fact going to breed her ..

but my true question is when do i mate her .. i was told after she stops bleeding .. but i thought it was while she was bleeding ......

Hon, thank you for reading my comments with an open mind. I appreciate that. I think you might want to ask yourself, WHO wants the baby?? Her? or you?? Believe me, your little girl isn't thinking like a human does.. I want a baby... I know that when we get a sweet purebred pet that we would love to have more of them.. It is an inticing idea to breed our own babies. I can tell you from experience that puppies are hard work and you will find that although the mom may or may not want to stay with the puppies.. I had to lay down in the pen with them to get mine to stay with them. Within a few weeks it is not MOMMY who wants to stay with the babies.. it is YOU that will have to. It is really hard on the moms. If that is what you want to do, I really think you should breed her to another yorkie. And you really should have her tested by the vet and make sure that the male is tested as well. The last thing you want is to have unhealthy babies. Not all yorkies can carry and birth babies. The vet should look at her structure and make sure she is the right size to havev babies without hurting or possibly killing her. Especially if you try to breed her to a maltese. If the maltese has a bigger head for instance, the puppies might not be able to pass thru her birth canal. I don't think anyone is trying to make you feel bad, it is just that we are passionate about yorkies and we want the best for them. And believe it or not, we want the best for YOUR yorkie as well. Please , if you have your mind set that this is what you plan to do, please speak to your vet and ask him questions about all we have said on here. Make sure she safely can have puppies..... Make sure she doesn't have anything genetically wrong with her that can produce unhealthy babies.. Same for the male.. for the sake of YOUR baby, make sure the male has been tested too. Good luck

PS in answer to your question, the female will tell you when she is ready. She will not allow the male to tie with her until she is ready. That is usually between 9-12 days after she starts bleeding.

There are enough mixed breeds in shelters and rescues that no one wants. Please don't do it.

Ughh just what we need yet more mixed breeds in this world. Better yet from an inexperienced wannabe breeder.

Go ahead breed your girl but maybe you should READ the links posted. Someone just posted today about how they just lost 2 pups that their girl just had. And this person is experienced and shes just devastated.

You want you girl to have a baby of her own.. Im curious did she come out and tell you this? She isnt going to be devastated if she isnt a mommy. She may however thank you for possibly saving her life from horrible things such as a pyometria if she were spayed

Your little girl looks adorable. From the picture you posted of her she looks too small to breed, be it to a Maltese or a Yorkie. It's not advisable to breed a female Yorkie under 5 pounds; there are too many risks in breeding the smaller females. Please breed her with a yorkie the least. Mixed breed has a lot of health issue that can't be researched in the internet coz they are not known breeds.

do you work out side the home are you able to get up every 2 hours around the clock if not well pup won't make it
or what if it is the whole litter?
that you have to potty and feed and weigh etc it isnt even about mixing
the breed it is about the night mare that can occur and how mentally exhausting it can be and how attached you get and still maybe loose
the pup or litter please do your homework it is so much more than just breeding a dog and if you want to know when the right time is well take her to the vet he can tell you!!! put money away just in case of a c-section most vet's want money upfront and double that for a night c-section
than put money away for vet check and shot's and a good puppy food and
for a good calcium supplement for momma and a high quality food for momma
and buy you some good breeding books so you undertand the good and oh so
bad about whelping and than a nose sucker and clamps and all the whelping supplies than money for tails and dew claws
also remember it is summer be prepard to give up going to the lake or a vacation or outings for weeks until pupies are ready to go
you need expen and puppy pads and washing little buts and cleaning poo for weeks than vet checks to make sure you are not selling a sick pup and believe you me cleaning alot of puppy poo and little buts for at least 12 weeks can be so much fun and giving albon for days if pups get coccidia
just please rethink what you are about to do it can be very costly and
heart breaking and money to be made well i am always going in the hole.
