| thanks for the great info! i was told recently by my vet that Teddy has "kneecaps that slip in and out" (both of his back legs have this) and that it was very mild. He is only over a year old, and i have never noticed any signs of discomfort or slipping myself (or anything off with his gait when we do our daily walks) so im guessing he is a stage I. I'm going to keep a good eye on him because he thinks he is a cat and likes to jump around everywhere! lol.. thanks for sharing this ladies!

| Similiar situation, my newest addition just turned 1 year on May 12th and was diagnosed with a luxating patella approx. 3 weeks ago. My vet says it is genetic. This was missed by 3 other vets but it makes sense that is would be genetic because both of my girls have the same mother (different dads) and both have luxating patellas in both legs. My youngest is waiting on surgery now while the oldest has only a grade one that will not require surgery. My vet says sometimes it progresses and sometimes it doesn't but does not recommend surgery until it's clinically significant.
