10 weeks is the soonest...He just dont get it.
While most puppies eyes open at 7-10 days.
These little guys dont usually open till 2 - 3 weeks.
He had a toy poodle at 6 weeks..and it was his biggest baby.
He kept that poor sick thing alive for years when he was so sick.
He is by himself. And I know he's lonely. But I just know 10 weeks is early.

maybe you could fly your dad to you.. let him bond and stay with you for a month.. then let him take baby home.. even 10 weeks is young.. at his age he might not be aware of the puppy not eating enough.. I would have to say as much as he is lonely and anxious.. it is because i cannot let one of the babies leave at that age.. what about parvo... no shots at that age at all.. that in itself would scare me to death....I do hope it all works out though..anne

I love this idea that would be a cool way to help him wait. It will still be hard for him but it will let him know it will happen soon. Tell him it is called delayed gratification. :D

i got lacey at 8 weeks but the breeder had to leave town due to a death and she knew i would be home all the time with her and knew that i have had small dogs before and live by my vet:) she did excelent! but i also have other dogs that love to mother and teach puppies.

I don't let my pups go before 12 weeks.

U know what I tell my parents Mom is 70 & Dad is 78...U're worse then raising kids, cause U parents won't listen to reason...I told them that my parents are worse then my own children to raise...They just laugh at me and now I get to tell them all the time "I told U so" or "If U'd listen to me"...I love them tho and they are the light of my life. :) Lee

Just jumping in here. The breeder let us get our puppy at 6 weeks and that was wayyyyyyy to young. I didn't know that at the time, but I have learned so much since then, especially from this forum. Our puppy will be 9 wks. on Monday, and I can see changes in him daily. He has had alot of extra care, and I have had some sleepless nights, but in the end it is all worth it. We really enjoy and love him!!!

My puppies don't leave until they are 12 weeks old.

Yep Lee...I know right where you're coming from here...
Well if its 8 weeks before I can even take her on the plane that helps.
Then I'll just fuss with him after...telling him soon dad...soon...
Put him off as long as I can.. :p
