I have never had stinky pups at that age. Mom usually keeps them very clean. What kind of bedding are you using for them? Are their stools normal?

I also have never had a stinky pup at that age but if I did I would use a baby wipe and then dry it well. Mine are seven weeks old today and are starting to smell just a teeny tiny bit so at about nine weeks I will bath them.

They are still in a basket with bedding that we change every 3 or 4 days. They have poop that makes me think of stage 1 baby food. This is all new to me so I may not being this right. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thats what I was wondering about, the poop. If the momma is doing her job there should be no poop unless they have runny or really soft stools. At that age the poop should be firm. If their poop is not firm you might want to go ahead have the stool checked in case they are having a coccidia outbreak. Look at the bottoms of all the pups, the bottoms should all look clean and dry, or they look wet or icky then you definitely need to get them checked. It is at this age that coccidia can show up and they would need albon.

I know around 3-4 weeks they start going sometimes on their bedding, and I have to change it a few times a day. I dont worry as much about stinky..as I do them getting wet and chilled. If older I use baby wipes. I never give a bath until after 6 weeks. And not then in the winter months...

| I agree. I usually change the bedding every day... and as someone else mentioned... once they get a little bigger and you notice pee on the bedding maybe twice a day... I use old towels as bedding.
