| Should i get my baby neutered??!?!? Hello! I am having a crisis. I do not know if I should get Jacoby neutered or not. His appointment is tomorrow and I want to cancel it!! I would love to stud him out or breed him one day, because I think he would make some beautiful puppies! I know breeding successfully requires lots of research and experience and would be willing to do that if I ever found the right female for Jacoby. Does anyone have any advice?? I know that getting him neutered could reduce the chance of testicular cancer later in life and has other benefits also. Please let me know what you think.

| im not telling you not to neuter but look up the pros and cons. on one site i went to the cons of neutering outweighed the pros. if i would have seen that before i took skoshi to get neutered i probably wouldnt have done it. All you hear is how it reduces the chance of testicular cancer but you dont ever see anything else. but i never wanted to stud skoshi either. the breeding subject goes into a different conversation. so do your research on neutering and make your decision on that

| thank you for the advice! I am doing some research now. I am leaning more towards getting him neutered, but i'm still not sure. I don't want to get it done and then regret it later on.

| Also, I thought I should add that Jacoby is 8 months old and only weighs 2.5 lbs. So thats another reason why i'm scared (because he is so little!)

| I think neutering is a great idea if you have no plans on breeding. But you may, so you have to decide about that. Good luck with your decision. |

Luvs Lulu Donating Member | Personally for me I would neuter. Each person may feel differently. I don't care for the humping and marking and the added health benefits are a big plus. I wouldn't worry about his size. I had my 2.5lb female spayed and she did well. Zoey is now 2 plus pounds and will be spayed once hubby is back to work and I can spare the $$.

| I prefer neutering, I also had a 2 pound female spayed and she's very healthy! If you aren't going to breed which I recommend not because of his size and let him have a wonderful happy life not thinking about all those females in season and you having to worry about marking and peeing everywhere. Just my opinion! Donna Bird Brooklynn's Yorkshire Terriers |

| i agree with getting him neutered. Kash is getting neutered this thursday. he's just under 3 lbs... i'm very nervous about it, but i guess not enough to stop myself from going through with it. i know i'll never breed him, so that helps with my decision. good luck!

| i think I've decided to get him neutered....I'm not really happy about it, but I will deal with it and hope that everything goes smoothly. I would rather not have him obsessively hump other dogs and mark all over the place. But man am I nervous!! I hope I am making the right choice. Thank you to everyone for the advice!

| I am a breeder of Yorkies and I have 2 males right now 1 almost 2 and 1-3, let me tell you that their marking isn't one bit of fun, it smells like a skunk truely you'll not smell another smell. I have my 2 males in 1 long playpen in our living room as I have 1 female in heat in our Yorkie room. I have linoleum under their playpen and I put puppy pads at one end under the playpen and yep they hike their little legs down there on that end of the playpen on the playpen and down on the puppy pads, sometimes they squat like a little girl but not often so I have to wash all the marks up on and off all day long & change puppy pads. I do have to say tho I'm lucky they only pee, mark and poo down at that end where their puppy pads are. It's no fun, makes me gag sometimes. I did have Galahad our almost 2 year old crated but he was marking so bad that it was going under the crate even with puppy pads in the tray & he was tearing his coat up so badly rubbing the sides of it so I put him and Teddy together, they are doing good and not fighting at all now. So far that is. I do keep a close eye on them tho. I know when I retire my boys that's the 1st thing that will be done with them. I hope this will help you. Lee |
