Two littlest not nursing well They are just so tiny. The one boy who had all the trouble last night is the weakest. I get him latched on..and the other 2 tiny ones and he nurses for a bit then stops. He only weighs 2.64 oz., He is not nursing well at all And a couple others are 2.82 oz. and 2.72 better but still sluggish The biggest is one is 4.19 oz.and The rest are just a bit under or over 3 oz. they are all nursing well. I want to make sure what and when I should start... This little guy is my biggest concern right now.. And unlike Allies who have not cried at all really. All Nalas are crying a LOT...they are nice and warm. She has milk. Any ideas? |
I can't answer your questions Debbi, but I can pray for these little ones. Bill came home just a few minutes ago and I was so excited telling him about your new babies. Just wanted to let you know you are in my prayers. (Hugs) |
I don't know a lot... but I got my little girls to nurse a little longer when I put the nutrical right on the nipple... they went right after it and it seemed to give them the energy they need to hold on a little bit longer... both my little girls are doing well now. Good luck and lots of prayers coming your way!!!! |

They are just so tiny...would be sad to lose them |
Debbi - have you tried nutridrops? I had a small one before and once I started him on nutridrops he had the strength to nurse on his own in a matter of hours. |

I will try a bit on the nipple. I can get him on..he just wont suckle but for a few seconds.. The other 2 real small ones atleast latch on for a couple minutes |

How much is safe.how often?...same with the nutra cal...for puppies this tiny? He feels cold...I am trying to warm him up too. I lost one at 4 days out of Daisys last litter this way. It choked as I tried to bottlefeed it..so I dont want to do that too soon neither. But I dont want to wait to long |

Another trick that has worked for me is to put some of my own saliva on the nipple and they will latch right on, but if he is weak at this point, he most likely isn't going to have the strength until you get him going. Make sure to warm him up before you try to feed him. Gosh I hope this little guys pulls through and starts eating! I'm praying for you!!!! |

and they are nursing good..and its been a couple minutes. Thanks guys will keep you posted and I will start supplementing them . But they are nursing..and I'm keeping the others warm and away for a bit So they dont get knocked off |
Do you how to tube feed? If you can make it to the vet tomarrow, have them show you. It is much easier to get the nutrition into the babies that way and much faster than a bottle. Plus, you dont have to burp them. Its a little tricky at first, but you will definately know how much they are getting. And dont give a chilled puppy food! Just some karo syrup and water. Best of luck! |
I don't have any input, but I am praying for the wee little one. Dovie from Chizzie's last litter was tiny and weak. Dr. Any tube fed her once and then sent her home with a bottle of formula. After she took that bottle she had the strength and will to nurse on her own. I watched her like a hawk for those first few weeks. Good Luck! |
