The one has a full tummy, The lil guy doesnt..so I am going to bottle-feed him now. I have successfully bottle-fed 2 runts from previous litters. Its just that after last time...and losing it,, I didnt want to start too soon. But I'm going to he's nice and warm now. Tubefeeding scares me,but the vet will teach me , he told me last time I was in if I needed it. Thanks all |
:hands::hands: Hugs & prayers to you and your babies that they will gain the strength to latch on and nurse to grow up healthy and strong.:hands::hands: I have now words of advice for you Debbi. I was fortunate to have smooth sailing with the one litter I have had so far. But I will be here with hugs & prayers and well wishes for you and the babies, as I read and learn what to do if and when I ever encounter similar problems. Good luck to you! |
Saying prayers for your little ones!!!!! Keep us updated!!! |
Prayer for all of them, especially the little guy! Sure hope he perks up soon! |
Reading this just *drove home*, like many other times, the pressures and incredible vulnerabilities of breeding. My heart goes out to you and your little ones. I wish there was someone, a mentor, with whom you could talk on the phone - it all sounds so scary - but you seem to be handling it very well. I'd be in a ball on the floor. I'm sending good thoughts your way! :) |
How are they tonight Deb any better.I had to work with mine also being so tiny and not much good nursing.THANKS Kim:D:D If you can get them a jump start they will be better and agressive nursers. I used the nutri drops one in the am and one in the evening, did you give some benebac also? |
Gosh I am just so grateful for all the knowledge here and all the people willing to help others! Thanks for being so awesome you Yorkie Talkers, you!! |
Puppies Got a lil bit down with a bottle then got them latched on to Nala Now to just make her quit worrying about the others But they knock these 2 wee ones right off. So I've been holding her down. so they can nurse longer and get stronger. Thanks guys..Hopefully we will get thru this |
Oh Debbi, I am praying for the little ones, especially the littlest guy...that's bringing back sad memories for me...:( Stay on top of it...make sure he's always warm and with a full tummy. Definitely get your vet to show you how to tube feed...it's a valuable thing to know! I am praying for him...keep us updated. |

I'm working with them ...if these bigger stronger one would quit knocking them off. It was looking dehydrated ..and I got real worried It happened so quick. It is looking a bit better now and alot more active |
hey Debbi - what if you take the others and put them on a heating pad in a box and let the tiny have mom to himslef for a few, just till his belly is full, so he doesn't get knocked off? Can you try that? |

I've never tube fed either but in our litter I've had to syringe fed (Tried every nipple I could find at every store around and on the internet and not one of them worked) so I syringe fed them all until they got strong enough to latch but I still had to rotate them & syrigne feed due to her having 6 and her milk was drying up. Our Vet gave us a little tiny syringe that worked good for us. Maybe if U don't have one then U can ask U're Vet for one. I got the Esbilac (The big powdered can at the Vets) and used it on all ours in our last litter and 1 in our previous litter, never lost a puppy one. I as U would be to scared to tube feed but would if I had to so not to loose one. I had a heating pad on the floor with baby blankies over it and one in my lap with baby blankies over it, (I sit on the floor with my knees up) I would wrap the baby in a preheated old cloth diaper (They are just the right size for newborn puppies) and then keep my hand over the heating pad that was laying on my knees/lap as to let the heat go through my hand and around the puppy while I was feeing it to help keep it warm. If any of that makes sense to U at all. I hope it does. My cousin in Ohio said to get the one with Goats milk it would help them more but I couldn't find it here where we live but I will make sure I get it before Sages' litter comes. Below is what I found on it that may help U. GME Goats Milk Formula Esbilac Formulated specially for dogs. Made with whole goat milk, this formula provides a protein, carbohydrate and fat calories base similar to a bitch's milk. Fortified with vitamins, minerals, and essential amino acids. Available in easy to mix powder or ready-to-use liquid If I was there close to U I'd gladly come help U feed, I love it and miss it so much. Good luck if U need something holler. U & U're dolls are in our thoughts and prayers. :) Lee |
Debbi, I can't think of anything that would help that you are not already doing. I know you won't get much sleep tonight but I will be praying for you and your little babies. |
can you get some one to show you how to tube feed... that is what I do.. then i know how much they are getting.. doing this every two hours will ensure they will survive if being tiny is the only problem they are having.. a vet will show you how.. I carry what I need with me at all times.. My gracie is here with us today as I tube fed her for two week night and day every two hours.. we started at midnight one night.. then went to bed.. set the clock for just before two and did this again.. if I can help in any way.. I will surely try... we woke at the 4 am feeding one morning and she was suckling.. so we just watched her after that.. but when i held her on the teat. she would only suckle for a minute and then wanted to sleep 4 hours.. she was dehydrating.. so this was to me the best way to keep her alive.. my vet did not think she would survive..... anne |
Debbi I wish you lived near me, we could get Lexie to take 2 of them, since she only has the one...I am praying for you girl, I know your exhausted, hang in there. :( |
