my dogs tied for about 10-15 minutes, and it's been about 15 minutes and his thing won't go back in, what do i do???

Put a cool wet washcloth on him and help ease it back in. Make sure there is no hair in it's way.

I've heard that putting a little sugar on it will cause him to lick it, and moisten it so it will retract. (I have two girls...never tried it myself!)

i got it... it looked still really funny for a while, but it's back to normal now. thanks for the suggestions, i will definately remember those for the next time, thanks guys

Pretty funny the first time you see one of "those" stuck out, eh?

ya it is weird, but it was more swollen this time than the first time, so it's like, how is it going to fit back in there lol but it all works. thanks, i hope the pregnancy goes good too, her average litters are about 4 puppies, so we'll hopefully find out if she's going to hold on to that or not lol

yep, it happens sometimes...my mentor calls it a "cherry"...it especially happens when they're wiggly during the tie...lol

I recommend antibiotic ointment around the top of the shaft and pulling the hairs out. Sometimes they will go into the shaft and block them. I use this after every breeding.

Ky Jelly works very well for this problem as well and sometimes I'll wet him down with sterile saline solution.
