| its been about an hour and 15 minutes now since the first puppy. shes having contractions still but no second puppy and the rest of the placenta didnt come out either should i be calling the vet?

| I've had some that were 2 hours apart. After 2 hours, then it's time to call the vet. Is she having continuous contractions and straining alot? |

| she is having continuous contractions... but shes just laying there while theyre happening. i can see her body strain... but she doesnt seem like shes pushing very hard?

| If you have some vanilla ice cream, you might want to give that to her. She may be tired and need a boost. Seriously, if you feel uncomfortable about anything you should call the emergency vet on call. It's so hard when we cannot be there to judge what needs to be done. | Do you know how to "feather" her? That can help with contractions. Have you given her anything to help boost her energy like some Nutri-Cal? |

i gave the vet a call and she said that if shes straining and having continues contractions for mroe than 30 minutes go ahead and being her in. i think im going to go ahead and head over there. the puppies are big so i knew she may have some troubles. thanks again and ill keep you updated.

| thanks again everyone... pebbles is still at the vet. they are doing a c-section. the pups head was just too big to get through. im such a nervous reck right now.... i hate that the vet sent me home. but i do understand that puppy number one needed to be fed... so here i am at home bottle feeding the first little grl. again thank you guys for your help. i dont know what i would do without yorkietalk.

| Hang in there. Take care of the little one that you have at home with you. The vet will take care of mom and the other baby. The c/section should be over fairly fast and you should hear something from the vet to put your mind at ease. Last edited by char7; 04-19-2008 at 12:36 AM. |

| good news! pup # 2 is doing great. they were worried about him for a while but he pulled through, latched on right away and is breathing fine now. everyone is home safe and sound and resting nicely. thank you so much for everyones help last night. you guys are amazing!
