Remember that some females whelp with no warning. One minute they look normal, and 2 seconds later they are pushing. 10-15 minutes is too long between your checking on her. Stay with her, she needs you now. If it is inconvenient in your closet, I'd move her so you can be with her. Sorry, but I'm just wanting you to have a healthy whelp. |
I know it sounds goofy but I always whelp pups on our bed. I have a big wicker basket that I put on the bed when the momma is starting to show signs of labor. I just kick back on the bed with the expectant mom and we watch tv. I try to get her to just relax and concentrate on having puppies. Once she starts pushing hard then I make her stay in the wicker basket. This is just easier for me because I have a hard time getting up and down off the floor. |

I brought Remi's whelping box in the livingroom and sat it beside the recliner while she was in labor. I went out with her each time she wanted to go and kept the other dogs from bothering her. We watched groom all about it together. Terry came home at 10:30 so into the office we went and she was ready to push. Keeping it quiet and lowkey is so important and until Terry was there they would have carried on about being locked out of the room so this worked well for us. Keep a close eye on your gal and help her to relax. I sit in a beanbag and read a book when we're in the whelping pen, it relaxes us both. |

I set up the Pillow top queen size air mattress in the living room. I put a down throw on it too. And a down throw on the floor. But she won't use it. She has her whelping box and a pet house too. She's not happy with any of them! She's walking around hovering like she's holding them in or something...weird! Ok, she just finally found a comfortable place. She is on the air mattress, underneath the down throw.:thumbup::thumbup: She's laying right next to me. I've got my laptop handy just in case I have any trouble. Im staying right next to her til she pops. She won't eat anything. I wanna give her some nutri-cal and some plain yogurt but she won't eat either one. I even tried putting some on a boiled piece of chicken and still she won't eat it. Any suggestions how I could get her to eat this stuff? Thanks!!!!! |
