Congrats on your new litter of pups......Welcome to YT.... I think that your pups are called Parti pups...You can go to the breeder Forum and check it out..... Congrats again.... BTW Would love to see pics Joyce |
Are these AKC dogs? |
They are very cute, you are so lucky |
Wish you were closer, I would of had a parti off you, I love them, so cute.:aimeeyork |
Wow! I checked out the photo and they are soooo cute? Were both the parents Black and Tan? Is it a recessive gene? Thanks for sharing. |
There is a huge difference between Biewer and Parti. Biewer were specifically bred with their "standard" as having a definite color in certain spots, and they originated in Germany. They are trying to be registered as a separate breed in this country. The Parti, on the other hand, is a Yorkshire terrier who just does not meet standard coloring for the Yorkshire terrier. It has something to do with a recessive gene. It is a really easy color to achieve, and the standard coloration of yorkies, with the metallic looking hair, is much more difficult to achieve. That's why you won't see a good breeder selling Parti Colored yorkies. For more information see: http://ytca.org/faq.html#C This is not to say they won't be suitable pets, but in my opinion they should not be bred. |

welcome to the board:) the puppies are soo pretty. |
:congrats: Congratulations! :congrats: What a big litter, I'm so glad everyone looks healthy. :aimeeyork I think they are beautiful. :animal-pa Good luck & best wishes. :) |
I can see why you'd be confused. Parti yorkies can look just like Biewers, in fact the top puppy looks just like my Biewer when he was a puppy, but they have to come from Biewer lines to be Biewers. So unless they do, they are Parti Yorkies. Congratulations, they are beautiful. |
It sounds to me like the either the yorkie mom or dad was from a is a splitter (biewer and yorkie). This would produce both parties and yorkies. |

I think it's exciting! they are going to be so pretty!:) But tell me..in simple terms..lol...What is the difference between a Parti & a Biewer? |
one of your parents is a splitter. |

I also do not agree with the statement of, "It is a really easy color to achieve, and the standard coloration of yorkies, with the metallic looking hair, is much more difficult to achieve. That's why you won't see a good breeder selling Parti Colored yorkies.". This is only my opinion,though....I happen to know great breeders that raise the parti. Tammy |

Splitters are created by breeding a Yorkie to a Biewer. Splitters look like Yorkies. When Splitters are bred to Biewers, they produce Biewers or more splitters. When Biewers are bred to Biewers, they produce Biewers. Parti-yorkies are AKC registered. Biewers are not registered with AKC. |

Both are tri colored dogs (blue/black, tan and white) that carry the recessive piebald gene. They are the same dog except for a few differences -- Biewers originated in Germany, developed by Mr. Biewer. All Biewers can be traced back to his two traditional colored yorkies, Fru Fru von Friedheck and Darling von Friedheck, dam and sire to the first Biewer puppy. That is what seperates them from a parti yorkie that can look just like them...the lineage. Biewers have their own breed standard but parti yorkies do not (they may one day). So Biewers must have four white legs, a white chest, tip of the tail and white on the face. If not, it is a fault. Parti yorkies can have the white coloring anywhere. Biewer's tails are undocked and parti yorkie's tails are docked. That's it. |
These puppies may or may not have anything to do with a splitter but they do come from two dogs that both carry the recessive piebald gene. They aren't necessarily one and the same. |
Congrats on the new pups!! They look very healthy. and so pretty.....I am very jealous...enjoy them |
Oh how adorable!!!! |
Where are the pictures? |
Re: White on Yorkies Since my Yorkie is show quality and my breeder wanted me to show her, I'll let you know about AKC registration rules. NO WHITE allowed AT ALL on Yorkies. If someone is breeding for the fun (Which you should not be doing) I guess you would do it. But cannot be registered with AKC as anything with White. My 3 yr old baby was bred to a lovely male and will have her puppies the end of this month. I'm so excited. I used to breed Black and Silver Min. Schnauzers. Yorkies is a different story cause they're so small. Good luck to all who have babies. They're such fun.:aimeeyork |
AKC allowing Parti Yorkies -- I think not Could someone let me know WHERE in the AKC website it mentions any color recognized except Black/Tan or Blue/Tan? AKC does NOT recognize Parti? If they do, let me know where you have read that. Thanks. When Splitters are bred to Biewers, they produce Biewers or more splitters. When Biewers are bred to Biewers, they produce Biewers. Parti-yorkies are AKC registered. Biewers are not registered with AKC.[/QUOTE] |

I can't show you where on the AKC website but there are members on YT that own AKC registered parti yorkies. You can do a search and find threads that discuss them. Welcome to YT. |
