Are Breeders Really Welcome here on YT?
 

Sorry but after a post by a moderator on YT in the general section I don't think any of us are really welcome here.
check the peta thread in general discussion. :eek:

Wow that is a horrible feeling. Gonna check it. Personally I like having you all here ...lots of information to learn from you all.

Please remember that is just one person's opinion...while everyone is entitled to it...it's not always right. So keep your chin up and do what you do as long as your doing it well and bettering our breed.

I don't know if I took the "I believe breeding needs to be stopped" so literally...maybe she just meant that MOST breeding needs to be stopped? Or was it meant literally as in there should be no breeders at all?

If anything I've always gotten the impression that breeders were a little..umm..too welcome on YT.. :confused:

My kids, my grandkids and my furbabies are my life.

With all the legislation we are dealing with right now I just really find it sad that anyone as a pet owner can find themselves to say such a thing :(
I would hate to think that once my kids have their own homes when they decide what dog they want, they won't be able to have it because people think breeding should be stopped.
My kids have been raised from day one with a dog.
My daughter has a Cavalier now and she is in College now and will be adding an OES to her home when she does indeed fulfill that dream of her own home and her choice of dog. I would hate to think that there will be no breeders if we sit back and allow this mindset to fester.

I think she means it literally, and she has had time to to correct it. I think she means what she says, and Peta does not believe we should be allowed to have pets; they call it slavery.

I'm one that think most breeding should be stopped..the breeding done by puppymills, backyard breeders, and irresponsible pet owners. But I love having different breeds to choose from, and in order to continue that we must have responsible breeders that breed them the right way. I get a little disheartened sometimes because it seems like there are so many unethical breeders out there, but then I'm reminded that there are some really great ones too...ones that truly keep our wonderful breed in existence

PETA believes in having no pets and does not believe in breeding...they actually come to dog shows and lets dogs out of their protective crates to either get stolen, picked up by local law enforcements, run in the street to possibly get run over ect....I've been to a dog show where I couldn't even walk to the restroom without fearing my dog would be let out of their crate it's a sad situation that PETA runs and advocates...

This is a very loaded topic. I think the mills and greeders should be stopped but there are good breeders around that are doing good things so they should be left alone. I personally don't see a thing wrong with people owning pets. People at PETA need to step back especially if they are doing such stupid things as letting the dogs lose.

We won't leave ours when we are at shows, however when they are with handlers, I do worry a lot that could happen.
You just cannot feel safe at a show knowing what PETA has done.
I was always told I was paranoid because we never left ours out of our site at shows.

How do you know if PETA is there or not? At the shows I always wonder how you all trusted just leaving your dogs alone...I'd be so afraid someone would steal them (or PETA might do something stupid)

I was at the Houston Reliant shows and word circulated dogs were being let out and it wasn't by accident....Word does get around...
Most shows I don't worry because I'm always back and forth and if you've noticed in Navasota I was always watching and looking...and even in Ft. Worth I am always watching what goes on around me, I watch people ALOT..

I have to take more time to read thru the opening poster but from what I read..I was not real surprised.
They dont even want your child to have a goldfish....

So many people think PITA is all about the humane treatment of animals.

At dog shows I feel moderatley comfortable leaving my purse unattended in a crate but NEVER my dog.

I'm guilty of leaving them in their crate while I go watch groups or go eat at the show or shop some but mostly after I show I'm heading home with my dog.

That is the truth. NO animals and also slavery as one other poster mentioned.
There are two kinds of people in the world IMO, those who love animals and those who don't. I've always felt the one's who don't are soul-less. Those who do should certainly appreciate the good and responsible...ethical people who keep their dogs, hamsters, birds, goldfish, ect thriving and available to them to own and love.
I haven't read the thread that Deana is talking about but will try to check it out soon.

OMG, I do not think or hate to think that of you breeders.. my goodness.. I am not good at looking up threads yet.. but gee...I feel bad for you guys...if your feeling like this...anne

I would leave the country before I would do without my yorkies!

Different people have different opinions about many things.
It is important to remember we are all human beings and must share this world for the short time we have given. Let's try to love and not to hate. Let's try to build and not to destroy.

I am not a breeder nor will I ever be but I am very thankful for the breeders out there that do the breed a great service! I just got my little "Paxton" three weeks ago from Glenda Beavers , Tsa La Gi Yorkies. It is funny right before the Oprah show aired I wrote Glenda a quick email and sent some new pictures of my new baby and thanked her for the beautiful Yorkies she has bred. I also told her that it would be a a huge loss for the Yorkshire Terrier when she decides to stop showing and breeding. If it were not for her I would not have such a gorgeous, healthy and prime example of the breed. I am truly blessed that she trusted her baby with me. All of your breeders on this forum who spend every waking moment trying to improve the breed I commend you! :) Those groups who are trying to make sure every pet in America is spayed or neutered are just not realistic and should try to use that energy on real issues. :confused: What about the million homeless people and what about all the abused children and the list goes on and on. If we as a nation cannot even feed every hungry person on a dailey basis do you really think this will happen? I doubt it....don't forget the part that the U.S.D.A. plays in our nations Puppy Mills....Thanks to our government who has yet to feed the hungry, house the homeless, save out battered children are they going to stop or rural states from breeding dogs when our shelters are overflowing with unwanted pets and furthermore enforce neutering and spaying? :confused: Did you know that According the Humane Society of America a HUGE number of Puppy Mills are now in Europe :eek: ...you guessed it in poor economic countries where people are just trying to put food on the table. The sad part is .....The United States of America has NO import laws...anyone can send a puppy to the United States and sell it. If you think the puppy mills are bad here.....think about the torture they are enduring elsewhere and then being shipped on a plane for 24 hours plus...sick, cold, injured or simply just too young to be taken from it's Mother. If we cannot as nation control this type of industry even on a state level then how in the world do you suppose spaying and neutering your pet will ever be enforced? I think I liked my life better before I knew all of this existed and realized how barbaric we really are:cry8: ....ignorance was bliss!

That would really make much more sense than going to a dog show where dogs are doted on and letting them out.

Sadly that is true but puppymill facilities have security and would be caught on camera I'm afraid so PETA goes and picks on us good guys and trusting folks and the pampered dogs instead :(

LOL I just saw it and that was an interesting thread....I really don't think she meant ALL breeding. Remember - we have many many people involved in rescue here and based on what I know of simonandhallie - she would never intentionally make someone feel bad - She posted her feelings and I think it should be respected.

I kind of feel the same way she does....not that ALL breeding should be stopped... but I do feel there are just too many people in it for the money these days. Which in the long run is bad for ALL dogs.

Our dogs are the lucky ones.

it seems to me that the inspectors are being paid off. usda.. there should be an investigation of these people, and they should be replaced immediately by someone who cares about these poor animals. :animal-pa

there should be laws to stop the import from puppy mills... it is out of control now... i dont want to think about it anymore. it is way too depressing
