I think that simonandhallie is one of the nicest people on here. Whatever her opinion is on breeding, I can't imagine she would not want you on here!

Well, she is the first person that asked me to reconsider when I pm'd her telling her I was thinking of leaving and WHY. It was because mainly of how the breeders are treated on here by one or two people. over and over again.

I don't think Kimberly would want anyone to leave, she has her beliefs just like the rest of us, she told us how she feels and that was it, at least she didn't continue trying to pound it in our heads. :D

Moderators are human too, believe it or not and are subject to making typographical errors and wording posts in a way that might be misunderstood. I hope that the op took the time to contact Kim(Simonandhallie) to clarify her position prior to starting this thread. If it is in fact her position that breeding should stop, well, she is entitled to her own personal opinion. I can tell you from several years experience here at YT and much personal contact with Kim, that she is a fair and honest person and puts her personal opinions aside while she is wearing her moderator's hat.

She stated her position clearly on the post in General Discussion. Of course she's a person who has her own personal opinion. When you have Moderator under your name, you do represent Yorkie Talk in many many peoples eyes. That should be considered when a mod posts.

I think all of us have been a bit touchie lately as we all have strong opinions, I felt uncomfortable as a breeder/exhibitor when I read her post, I actually had intended to leave the group but I realized that would accomplish nothing other than to be narrow minded myself. So I told my self to Sit, Stay LOL
I can see that she has her opinion as I have mine, I just strongly feel as a pet owner that is an awfully hard thing for one to say but I have been up to my eyeballs reading all the legislation etc so I am hummm a bit stressed. And I felt also that if a mod post that is the general consensus of the admin. but admin posted here so we can move on.

I understand your frustration and agree 100%. Looking back at my post and how I worded it, it could be misunderstood. But I was trying to say that anyone with Moderator under their name should post with this is mind-- in many peoples eyes they represent YorkieTalk, whether they want to or not.

Surprise here is our 2 cents for what it is worth.....

When attending the Ft Worth show we were told we could not take our babies in the show (HOWEVER WE GOT IN ;) )

I would have left the show for the day before I would have ever left my 2 babies unattended..

Donna I am with you I watch people alot ...I love to see body language ect.... I even remember asking you about peoples dogs being stolen.

It is so sad like you say that they would pick on the show pampered dogs verses the PUPPY MILLS... I would hate for any dog to be stolen by far but this is just my 2 cents if you all want a cup of coffee...

Someone that monitors posts/threads to make sure they follow YT rules.

Someone that has his or her own life yet manages to volunteer their time to help keep YT running smoothly.

Someone that is able to post their opinion just as everyone else is as long as it is within YT Rules.

Someone that I admire for their dedication, quick wit, love of their babies, their courage, kindness to others, and the list goes on but I will end with their sense of humor.

That is my opinion of what a moderator is.

you are right..everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Personally though..if one of my statements were being questioned, I would make another statement to clarify exactly what I meant instead of letting people argue about it

I'm sorry but I don't see that at all... Many of us on here are happy with reputable breeders and have no issues with them at all. It's the backyard breeders that many have an issue with. I really feel that things need to be said and am glad there are people willing to stand up and say them...I'm glad some people truly have the best interest of the breed and dogs at heart. I'm not directing what I'm saying about you personally at all..just defending those "one or two people" that you think hates all breeders

You are entitled to your opinions. What I would like to see more of is posters with real life experience. I read Kim's post and even I understood that she didn't mean that everyone in the entire world should stop breeding -- gee whiz - that is a no brainer. If everyone in the entire world quit breeding yorkies in a few year's time our beloved breed would be gone forever.

I too took it to mean MOST breeding should be stopped, not all...but so many have questioned it. Like I said, I would probably clarify what I said so people wouldn't argue about it

I took it to mean all breeding because that's what Peta believes, all breeding should be stopped of any animals, no exceptions.

Kim is entitled to her opinion just like any one else. If someone else had said this it wouldn't have been such a big deal, or it would have been a bigger deal where the person who said it would get torn to bits. If you've read a lot of Kim's posts you can tell when she's being herself and when she's being Kim the Mod. The post on the peta thread is Kim stating her own opinion and not the opinion of the admin of YT.

I kinda agree with her though. Take a step back and look at the entire situation. There are many different types of breeders (show, hobby, byb, brookers, kennels, puppy mills). Out of all the breeders out there i believe that show breeders and some hobby breeders are the only ones that seriously screen the people who are purchasing their puppies. The other breeders do not care. They are out to make a quick buck. So out of all these puppies purchased i'm gonna say 30-40% of them get put in shelters or dumped outside. Being outside they are allowed to mix breed (and also by being in an irresponsible persons home can lead to this). These animals keep doing what they do best unchecked and you get litters upon litters of puppies that turn up in the shelter at some point of their lives. Every shelter i've ever been to has been practically full. These dogs need home or they will be put to sleep. There are mixes in shelters but there are also purebreds. There are also purebred rescues if your looking for a specific type of breed. So many dogs and cats are put to sleep every day and its sad. People are going out to pet stores, kennels, and breeders to purchase a puppy for thousands of dollars instead of going to the shelter to get a great pure or mix for next to nothing. If there were stricter rules in regard to breeding we wouldn't have so many animals ending up in shelters. Plus if there are less choices to choose from when looking for a puppy, people would either go to a reputable breeder or the shelter to look for their next pet.

That is what i think, and in a happier world that is the way it would be. I hate putting animals to sleep. It breaks my heart every time and you can't help but shed a tear for those that will never be loved like our dogs are loved. the last thing they will know is the poke of a needle (or worse) and the cold cold floor.

Well unfortunately in todays world with Peta apparently its not a no brainer to think when someone says I believe breeding should be stopped that they are not saying that breeding should be stopped.:rolleyes: Because thats exactly the agenda Peta has.:confused: :confused:

I just think if you make the statement that all breeding should be stopped then you mean all breeding should be stopped. To me thats a no brainer :confused:
And if it were meant otherwise I would think the person would have made a statement otherwise ASAP. :confused:

YES, I was taking up for her in the first part, the second part referred to a few people that are constantly starting debates , if you will, over breeders on here and what THEY think a breeder should be and if you don''t fit into that mold, then you are an unethical breeder. believe me, I gave names when I started to leave . turns out, they were already aware. But this thread isn't about that. it is about if breeders are welcome here and I have always felt welcome with the exception of a few so that's all I am saying about my experience.

I think the breeders on this forum contribute tremendously to the website. I would be very disappointed if breeders did not continue to post here for the rest of us that are interested in what they have to say. I very much appreciate the broad spectrum of experience of YTers. Everything from senior show dog competitor, to Whoops I think my dog is pregnant. It gives us all a chance to see farther than our own world, understand another's viewpoint, and if we can't -- then at least practice tolerance. Thanks to all the Breeders who post here. You would be sorely missed if you left.
