Vaccinations / Microchippng - Dangers - Beware
 

The other day I had a interesting discussion with a lady that is involved with Maltese and Yorkie rescue. She said that many dogs that are believed to have liver shunt actually do not. Apparently at A & M University they have done some liver biopsies and they are discovering that in some dogs the vaccinations are 'balling' up in the liver causing liver damage. I think she mentioned lepto was the main one causing the problem but I am not sure if that is the only one. Also, she said there have been several dogs that have died on the table while undergoing a liver biopsy. It really infuriates me that we are not being told the truth about what we are doing to our poor dogs. She also said there is evidence that the microchipping is causing cancer in dogs. I really wish we could get some honest answers on all these issues. We, the American public, are constantly being deceived by the medical and pharmaceutical companies.

If you are a breeder and give your own vacciantions, please follow the new protocol and do not start vaccinations before 9 weeks and preferably wait longer. The lady I spoke with starts shots at 12 weeks and gives 1/2 doses. If you are a puppy buyer, question the people you get your puppy from. If they start vaccinating at 6 weeks then you might end up with a sick puppy. If you take your puppy to the vets then don't let them talk you into unnecessary vaccinations.

I know much of this has been discussed over and over again but I just had to vent. I am very concerned about all our fur babies.

She had reacted to the lepto a year before.

I'm of the same mindset about vaccinations causing harm to our dogs but good info is hard to come by. There is no consensus and it seems like every vet has different protocols. I administer my own vaccinations and start at 8 weeks and don't give the lepto. I'm also very concerned about flea and heartworm preventatives and am looking into safer alternatives. I have read that you can get elevated levels in a BAT due to recent vaccinations so there's another wrench in the works. It's confusing trying to figure out what is best for our babies but I'm convinced at this point that over-vaccinating and giving dogs poisons monthly (flea and heartworm preventatives) is not the way to go. :aimeeyork :animal-pa :animal-pa :animal-pa :animal-pa :)

You really have to wonder when the dogs when my parents were young didnt' get any of the above and never had any health issues.

I have also heard from a couple of breeders that give half doses, the logic being that since a Yorkie is so small, you don't want to give them as much as a bigger dog. With vaccinations, though, don't you need a certain count of the virus to provoke the immune system response, regardless of size? In this case, it seems to me that giving half doses of vaccine is a flawed logic but would love to hear other's input. :aimeeyork :animal-pa :animal-pa :animal-pa :animal-pa :)

Interesting. My pom died on the table during her liver biopsy in the fall but she was having it done at the state of the art er hospital and the trauma doctor was there and worked on her for some time and got her back. Cali has elevated Bile acids and a liver biopsy that showed such a mild MVD that she required no treatment so all her tests and biopsy were really of no value except to cause her stress and cost money.

I'm so sorry for your lost. Right now I have a very close friend who's 15 week old puppy died due liver shunt.

bjh thanks you for posting this I find you to be a very informative person. I feel as if all of you dog or other types of animal owners sometimes are against a wall of what you should do about your babies. I mean I'm looking for a Yorkie and I'm already worried about vaccinations. Not to mention microchipping. I don't know how you all do it. Vaccinations are even causing problem to us humans yet most parents still take the risk and vaccinate their children since no one really wants to tell us what really is going on.

I am concerned for all our human children. I have heard there is a link between the high rise of autism in children and vaccinations. It has also been noted that vaccinations can change the personality of your pet so it all makes sense to me. I wish you luck in your search for a Yorkie. Please take your time and try to get one from a reputable breeder.

I know what you are talking about there is this gene that is not awaken until the child gets a certain vaccination which triggers autism. However they have changed what caused it on vaccinations now with something else but who knows what other things can happen now. I am really going to take my time a close friend just lost her 15 week old Yorkie due to liver shunt and is in great pain. She was in disbelieve that this was happening to her for she did a lot of research the breeder is taking responsibility but still she is devastated.

So when do you start vaccinations? My puppies are 6 weeks old, and at 5 weeks they were at the vet with their mom and were given a small dose of worming medicine. Apparently the new protocol is to worm them more often until they are about 4 months old. What do you think of this? And even if you don't give the lepto, when do you start your vaccines?

I don't vaccinate mine until they are 11 or 12 weeks old. Some people start at 9 weeks. I have never hear of a protocol for worming. Did your puppies check positive for worms? If you dog does not have worms then you should not worm it. None of my puppies have tested positive for worms in years so I don't worm them. I have a stool sample checked by the vet sometimes to be sure. I do treat mine with Albon only if they start having loose stools.

Really something to think about and research.
I warn everyone of my new furparents NO LEPTO.
And they ask..what if my vet wants to give it anyways.
Then go to another vet!!!
My vet does do the half doses on the small dogs.
Ive been wanting to research this area a lot more since coming to YT.

I do not start vaccines anymore.
I use to do them myself, as with the other animals BUT...
I soon was getting calls from upset new owners that their vets made them do it again. All states have different laws is my understanding....
And the vets said if they wernt done properly they wouldnt protect them anyways so....
Never mind the half doses for tiny pups they were getting DOUBLE!!!
So I stopped. :(
I tell them all about this and tell them you really need to take your new puppy to the vet ASAP to again get it checked over good, and start it shots....etc.
I always tell them up front. Alot of them called their vets first, and it was confirmed that the label on a card doesnt mean nothing to them.

None of my dogs have had worms. But I still worm ONCE around 10 weeks...
I've never had a puppy with worms. My dogs are all inside dogs.
I'm sure that has something to do with it...Or I am just pretty darn lucky

This is what was said by a vet and researcher at a seminar I attended a couple of years ago (he was with OSU, I think, I have the paperwork somewhere and need to look that up. I am 100% sure of his comments on the half doses, since it was a particular question of mine at the time.) His whole lecture was on immunizations, as that is his field of study. He said that many people are giving 1/2 doses to small dogs, even many vets are recommending it, but that they are erroneous in their thinking. He said for the vaccine to work, the full dose must be given, otherwise it does not provoke the immune system fully, so it's no better than not giving it at all.

This is the only info I have on it, and I realize it's not authoritative since I don't have the references. :)
