Mine are all growing and thriving thank goodness. I have one that the docked tail looks a little swollen and pink. Lilly is cleaning them but I don't know how well she is getting to all of them. Any suggestions? I cleaned it with some warm water and a cotton ball... anything else. I am going to watch carefully and head to the vet if it gets worse.

My babies are doing great as well. They are tiny but very strong and active, they went right up to nurse as soon as they got born.
I got so paranoid today , I'm just getting home from the vet, I took sweetie in for x-rays as I swear I was feeling another lump without movement so I thought I had a dead pup ........but thank god it was nothing, sweetie was acting just fine but I didn't want it to take any chances.

Thanks for all the kind comments.

I have four puppies that are a concern to me. They keep losing weight: Blue 4.6 oz. to 4.2 oz.; Pink 4.4 to 4.0; Purple 4.0 to 3.8; and Yellow 5.0 to 4.4. Yellow is especially concerning. She just doesn't seem to get it.

I've been giving them private nursing time, and they all latch on for awhile anyway. I've also been supplementing them after nursing with Esbilac. But they keep dropping weight. I've only been supplementing about every 3-4 hours -- not every 2 hours. What do you think?? (I've just never had puppies that lost weight!).

when would you use the liver remedy??

My vet use to stitch tails then give me a medicine to put on them.
But now they use that surgical glue and not meds?
I dont remember the name of the stuff he gave me now.
Hope its lil tail is better soon

Katelin. Almost all puppies lose weight the first day...even if its just a few grams.
Keep working with yellow the most and I'd supplement them every 2 hours. Till they get the hang of it more.
Noooo I dont think you need the liver remedy yet.,
Maybe someone else will come along thats knows better.

Yea, I have known that is very normal and they can lose about 10% of the birth weight.

you might wanna tell my two that... lol... because they just keep gaining! the first day they gained a half ounce, second day another ounce, third day another ounce...

im not complaining though... i love how chubby and cute they are! they sure are healthy!

So...I have some news...we MAY just have April babies after all... SOMEONE wrote down the wrong breeding date...

Basically her real due date is the 30th (that's her 63rd day). We may be ending this thread...or we could be popping in on the May thread...who knows? But Hadley's babies are kicking and rolling around in there...and she has a thick discharge...so I don't think it will be long...
