Does anybody keep a list of puppy statistics - birth weights, males, females, sires, etc.? I haven't had that many litters, but I see no real consistency, except that I think my Yankee sires 1 girl and 3 boys to a litter. If you keep records, what system to you use - MS Excel or what? |
I wish I was that organized (excel etc.). I use a small yellow pad and make all my notes for each litter in it. Then I file it away until the next litter. I have to drag them all out each time to compare my notes, etc. I just looked at them last night. My smallest puppy at birth was 3.8 oz., and she is now an 8 lb. dog! Go figure. I also had a 6.2 oz. puppy that is now 6 lbs. I keep trying to treat this as an exact science, and it just isn't. :) |
COngrats on your babies:D SOrry about the one you lost!! |

Thank you all.... Sweetie is doing great along with her puppies too. I took a nap as last night I didn't go to sleep till 1 a.m because I was watching a movie on tv (the only night I stayed up late ) then sweetie decided it was "show time " at 3 a.m :D I did enjoy the April Thread but sadly I have to move on (But I'm super glad sweetie is done ) .........now to enjoy my babies. ****I always take mom with the babies for tails /declaws and have her wait in the car, so she won't hear the crying (I always take someone with me). My vet always takes me in at the last app , so no one is there and we are in and out in around 20 minutes. The babies stop crying as soon as they get to mom and by the time we get home they are like nothing happened. |
Ditto. But I take mom out for ice cream while we wait for the babies. Doing it at the end of the day is a great idea. |

Well.................. depending on which tie took......I have one on day 62 from her FIRST tie (but she took my male early on day 8 so I'm doubting that tie took) and my other girl is on day 59 from her first tie :) |

My babies are doing great as well. They are tiny but very strong and active, they went right up to nurse as soon as they got born. I got so paranoid today , I'm just getting home from the vet, I took sweetie in for x-rays as I swear I was feeling another lump without movement so I thought I had a dead pup ........but thank god it was nothing, sweetie was acting just fine but I didn't want it to take any chances. Welcome Breny! we want more April babies!!! |

so are sassy and destiny due next? |
Help, please Hi all, Thanks for all the kind comments. I have four puppies that are a concern to me. They keep losing weight: Blue 4.6 oz. to 4.2 oz.; Pink 4.4 to 4.0; Purple 4.0 to 3.8; and Yellow 5.0 to 4.4. Yellow is especially concerning. She just doesn't seem to get it. I've been giving them private nursing time, and they all latch on for awhile anyway. I've also been supplementing them after nursing with Esbilac. But they keep dropping weight. I've only been supplementing about every 3-4 hours -- not every 2 hours. What do you think?? (I've just never had puppies that lost weight!). :( when would you use the liver remedy?? Thanks. Glad everyone's puppies are doing so well. |

But now they use that surgical glue and not meds? I dont remember the name of the stuff he gave me now. Hope its lil tail is better soon :) |

Keep working with yellow the most and I'd supplement them every 2 hours. Till they get the hang of it more. Noooo I dont think you need the liver remedy yet., Maybe someone else will come along thats knows better. And I'm glad Sweetie is doing good.. |
Thanks Deb. And I sent you a separate message about trouble with this site, but it seems to have cleared up. So you can ignore the message. |

Awww...yay Sweetie!! Congrats on her 5 little babies!! :D :D:D:D |
Update!! So...I have some news...we MAY just have April babies after all... SOMEONE wrote down the wrong breeding date... Basically her real due date is the 30th (that's her 63rd day). We may be ending this thread...or we could be popping in on the May thread...who knows? But Hadley's babies are kicking and rolling around in there...and she has a thick discharge...so I don't think it will be long...;) |
