| showing your pups who here shows their pup at their place? im so worried that ppl come over and "look at the pups" but then they really want to break in and steal your little babies when you are not there. im planning to show my babies at my moms place and then take them back home if they decide not to buy. |

| I have often wondered about this myself. But, I want people to come to my house and see where they are raised and I don't want ayone to think that I am hiding something from them because I have nothing to hide. I am so afraid that they will steal my pups, but they are in my house so I guess they would have to break in my house. |

I am so afraid that they will steal my pups, but they are in my house so I guess they would have to break in my house.[/QUOT\ This is a problem for me too. I can understand people wanting to see the place where the puppies are raised, to make sure it isn't some dirty dump, but having people I don't know in my house makes me very nervous. First, I have a security system and surveillance cameras all over the house, which is rarely unoccupied anyway. Also, I screen people over the phone or via email and never show the puppies when I'm there alone. There is always at least one other person with me. It's sad to have to place this much emphasis on security, but that's the way things are now... PET PEEVE: people who show up with all the kids plus the neighbors. I wish some would be more considerate of the fact that they are coming to somebody's home, not a public place. I really don't want them using my bathrooms, etc. Sometimes I feel like they think I'm running a public petting zoo. I guess I'm feeling a bit cranky today. |

| i feel the same way. i have children and i am always here by myself with them except on the weekends. i have run this through my head a 1000 times and point blank i really do not want anyone in my house. i don't open my door if i don't know the person and even sometimes i still don't want anyone there if i do know them. i'm just not a social person. i don't know what i'm going to do when it is time for the puppies to find new homes!!!

| I simply won't show them unless my dh is present. You may not see him, but I guarantee that he is here. I will not show them without an appointment. If you show up at my house, sorry... you'll have to wait until another day. I have my children that we have to protect as well. I carefully screen before anyone is allowed to come as well. We are a little more leary because of an incident that happened about 20 miles from here. A lady had her baby cut out of her stomach by someone who "came to look at her dogs".

| I think we all feel the same way.. especially since that lady had to lookers and then came back with a gun and stole those baby's.. and yes she did get them back but with children in the house and the memories of feeling so threatened and invaded never goes away... So yes it is a problem.. Not so much in canada as in the states from what I see... and did not know this until I joined yt,... |

| Yes. They had been talking to each other over the internet for quite a while. The woman knew when she was due even. I believe she raised rat terriors... not exactly sure on that. They talked about showing, etc. She made an appointment to come see her puppies and she attacked her and took the baby. It's scary because apparently she felt like she "knew" this lady.

| I show them at my house, they come in see mother father and we all end up sitting on the floor with the pups. When we are gone doors are locked and a few of mine run loose, they would have a hard time getting past a couple of mine who do not like strangers in the house. I would wonder why the seller couldnt show them at her house??Hmmm Why cannot I not see them at her house, that would raise a red flag for me. |

| Well, I have bought one puppy from a puppy mill...didn't know until it was after I bought her, but she said she does not let people come to her house...Well, that raised a rad flag for me also because I wanted to see where they lived and I wanted to see the parents...but she insisted on me meeting her at a store...well we started talking and I went to school with her children...they were a little skanky looking but nice...so I came home and looked up her address in the phone book and got hubby to ride by there and see what it looked like...he said he couldn't see the kennels but it looked pretty bad all around the house....Oh, by the way this was a weimaraner I bought...well I took her to the vet and she was severly malnutritioned and the vet wanted the number and everything to that place...but anyways I don't want people to think that I am hiding my place because there is something wrong with it...and my vet told me if they won't let you come to their house something is wrong! But I do have two very small children. But, I guess I could make appts. when hubby is here after 5pm. |

| I only show puppies when I have somebody with me. We usually set an x-pen in the garage and confine the viewers there. Unfortunately, if somebody wants to find you they can trace your phone # to your house or find your address online at your county tax office if you give them your name and you'd be surprised how much information you can get from the newspaper where you listed an ad. My MIL keeps herself locked in her house with the curtains closed and thinks that we should do the same. I always tell her that if a bad person wants in my house, nothing's going to stop them.

| You are so right! If someone wants in they are going to get in...it son't take that much! I just have to leave things in God's hands and trust that he will watch over me and take care of my family. |
