Newbie here looking for respectable breeder in NY Hi, I'm new to this forum so please bare with me. I have been doing some searches and havent found what I have been looking for. I currently live in Hyde Park, NY and my girlfriend is coming from California to visit. We heard about some stores around the tri-city area that had respectable pups for sale but after some research I have found that these places are not as legitimate as they call themselves to be. I am wondering where I can find a respectable breeder in the area whether itd be in Brooklyn, Manhattan, Long Island or anywhere north of New York City where we can find healthy, properly raised puppies? I mistakingly made a promise to buy my girlfriend one and now she has come to cash in. We have seen many go for absurd prices that we never thought could even be probable ($100-$2000+). Being college students we dont have copious amounts of money to spend on the puppy but we are educated enough to know what to expect with upkeep, living conditions, and vet fees. I frankly dont want to be spending a thousand dollars on a puppy, I would much rather wait until after school. But any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Well, first off, welcome to yt!!! I live in upstate NY and it seems harder to find yorkies up here, not sure why. Have you tried www.ytca.org ? There is a breeder referral section and you might be able to find a good breeder close to you on there. Good Luck!

Hard to find breeders in NY I also live in the NY area lower Westchester county and have also encountered difficulties finding a reputable breeder. Also, the prices for puppy mill pet shop and backyard breeders is insane! ($1000 - $2000) Last night I went to www.ytca.org and sent an APB email in search of a pup! I'll let you know if I hear from anyone.

I got my baby Lily from Northcliff in Holmes, NY, last September. She is my second puppy from this breeder and she was reasonable compared to the prices where I live in Westchester. I had no health problems with either and both were born very sweet tempered.
