| ![]() I feel pretty stupid but I want to know how to tell if my Maggie is inheat. How can I tell. We want to breed her but we keep checking to see if there is any blood to show she is menstrating but haven't seen any. She will be two in May. |

A heat cycle lasts 21 days. 1. One week coming in; vuvla turns pink and swells. (7 days) 2. One week showing color. (7) days 3. One week going out. When a yorkie is breedable and will stand for a male, usually on the 10th day from showing color. Are you aware that you will have to conduct the breeding.....hands on. Holding the female and assisting the male? If you are inexperienced in the signs of a female heat cycle are you prepared for the care of a yorkie during gestation, whelp, caring for the dam after the whelp and raising of the litter. So, much to learn. Have you had all the preliminary tests performed on her and the prospective stud. Bile Acids, Knees and Hips x-rayed. Heart, hearing, thyroid, kidneys and eyes tested? Blood test for STDs?
