because i cannot hold it in any longer with these people who come on here to get a quick lesson on breeding just b/c they think they will make money. uggggg.
this is all i have to say.

Been there. Sometimes a break does you good. What is the alternative...dont' try to help the dogs at all? It's a no win situation.:(

Im new here on yt but Im sure it would get old giving advice.But at least people are honestly wanting to know different oppenions rather that going into it blind and making a big mistake and giving impropr care to their dogs.And this is the breeder talk board.

I think it's the ones that DO fit that description that frustrate members.:cool: I can tell you of many times when I've seen breeders go on and on giving help, info and advice to those who need it and who are willing to listen to what is being told. But when you ask for advice and ignore everything that is said...well it's like a waste of time to continue offering anything....:( Why ask for advice if you are going to ignore everything you are told?

I totally understand your points. I still learn from every breeding thread, but I'm sure it is exhausting for those of you answering the questions especially when it goes against your beliefs in the first place. But looking at it from another point of view, this is still your opportunity to educate people. At least there is the "potential" for enlightenment.

If you have the patience to deal with 5 people with questions for "quick lessons" :thumbdown , if you cause 1 of them to pause to think, doesn't that help make it worth it? If they're not here asking questions, there's really little hope. There are still "aha" moments whether you see them or not.

So many of the people here are so smart. I's just sad when they get so frustrated that it's hard for them to say "the same thing for the hundredth time" ;) even though it's information needed (for the hundredth time).

That is very reassuring and good to hear. I am glad there are some out there who benefit from it...it's that other small handful. :) I think of all the great breeders that have posted advice and that I've learn from during my time here on YT and how I miss hearing what they had to say...but I understand why they don't post anymore sometimes and it is very unfortunate.

Okay, just take a deep breath and try to remember that everyone has to start somewhere. You and many others have been breeding Yorkies for years and really know how it should be properly done. You can't change the world over night but you and many others on YT can make a difference, even if you change just one person. Some people will never change but I think many are willing to listen. Just keep getting the message out gently but firm and maybe sooner or later it will sink in.

I think I might just take myself a break from YT :) I am not a know it all nor have I claimed to be :) I will always state my beliefs and stand behind my beliefs and if I'm wrong I am woman enough to admit it. I'm not angry nor upset with anyone I'm taking the adult approach and think I"ll just sit and watch and take a break. I have so much on my plate that I have no time to get upset or act childish on a forum. Too much in life to appreciate :)
I love this breed and my passion shows sometimes alittle too much!
I will post maybe on the lighter threads and have fun.

I know what you mean. I've started cruising the show forum more often because to be honest I just get disgusted with the breeding one sometimes. If you're not getting attacked about your so called getting rich breeding than your getting asked questions that should have been addressed long before 2 dogs were ever put together. It is so upsetting that someone can breed their poor little gal and than not even bother to pick up a book to do some homework. They wait until she's due to whelp and than get on here and expect us to make everything okay by giving them a crash course on breeding. It's so hard to watch our beloved breed being destroyed by indescriminate breeding by people who just want to make a buck. I left for a while once when my breeder was blackballed unjustly and came back because someone I respect asked me too. She was right, we can think about ourselves and the frustration that this often causes or we can think about the one little puppy life we may save or the bitch that won't be put in harm's way.

I feel the same as you Tami. But if it weren't for Show breeders posting over here setting the bar high, striving for the standard and excellence, many of us breeder wouldn't be striving to do the same

I appreciate your comment! What frustrates me is that one will come on here and ask an opinion and I or we answer it considerately but they get offended because we or I didn't answer it the way they wanted to hear it. I always try and answer questions or opinions in a professional manner, I'm not as eliquent with my choice of words so maybe that is where it comes off not being considerate. I guess my passion for this breed pushes somes buttons. (not you) :)

it does get so frustrating. it's almost an every day thing and as was already mentioned, you try to help them and they get all defensive and you know they are going to do it the way they want anyhow. It aggravates my socks off. we have had a couple of people come on in the past two days that have really tried my 'limited' patience. I can tell by their first line that all they are is a backyard breeder and that is what they will stay. I tried to help a couple of people recently when I knew I was dealing with people that don't give one iota about what they breed. They are more concerned with how much they should sell their dogs for and what they can get out of them. I can tell by the zipcodes what kind of breeder they are LOL.

First, I try to be really easy on people who want to breed their dog and don't know any better because I was there once too and Ellie's old vet even explained that a dog should be bred more than once in a heat for more and possibly smaller puppies (so he didn't tell us not to). It also just seems like the thing to do when you have a small Yorkie girl... I know better now but that is only because of YorkieTalk. So keep doing what you're doing.:) Before YT, I didn't know a thing about genetic Yorkie disease and testing. My only concern was losing Ellie during whelping...

Now to Lisa and Donna, I totally understand if you need a break from this section. I would too. But please don't take a break from YT. The Health and Diet section has been calm lately.:) :) :) Come visit us up there.:)

And another thing...

Unless of retyping the same answers a million times, you can always link to old threads with the same subject (because there are tons).

Also, unless it is an emergency, recommend books instead.
If someone is interested in doing it right then they will read a book...

I know there still will be threads that stir everyone up but the same questions have to be answered over and over.

Maybe I'll stick to the showing thread and the health and diet section LOL ;)

I stay away from the posts that frustrate me..it dosent do me any good to get upset..I know there are going to be people who wont listen anyhow...so I dont post my opinions anymore..I stay with the pics and videos and fun threads instead..Im much happier to do that..

I appreciate all the advice I get and I hope you and the other breeders dont quit giving it.I know some people are beyond help or really dont care but ther are still some of us who do.I would love to get my dogs where yours and some of the others are but I know it takes time and money hopefully I will get there.I do know that I dont live in a real ritzy area but I still take amazing care of my furbabies and I hope that people do not look down upon me and my dogs because of that.thank you for the help

You don't have to live in a ritzy place to love and have doggies :) I don't live in a ritzy area either but it's comfortable and it's home :) I make just enough to help with finances live day to day and thank the good lord above that I have what I do have.

I know that, I for one, am very thankful for the knowledge that YT has provided me with! I love the fact that even though I have done my own research, I have still learned just by being a member of YorkieTalk.

As for the comment about the zipcode...I live in Missouri so I guess you would lump me into that category. As much as I know that there are horrible breeders in this state (like there are in other places as well), I know 100% that I will never deserve to be thrown into that category because of my zip code.

I agree with this post and also with Tami's (Ladyhawk).
You cannot fix stupid.

I used to post in the breeder section alot. I loved sharing myself and my experiences with others. Just check the user name yorkiemom1970... But there came a time that I felt it was absolutely better off for me to stay out of it all. I took a major break and felt much better after the fact. It's a theater out there if you catch my drift and I have slowly gotten back into posting and meeting new people. It takes a mountain to earn my trust and an ant hill for me to see through you.
This is a good forum, packed with info about our beloved breed but I agree with OP and sometimes the things that go on just really take the cake. I do not think you (OP) will get banned for your thoughts here. No more than my saying that I do not agree with forum puppy advertisements.
But this is a free forum full of people from all over the world and I know that 98% of the members here are heart-felt yorkie lovers, breeders and exhibitors. I enjoy socializing here from time to time but will probably never get personal again. Those who really know me do not have to read about my life on a forum. I have met some great friends here in the past. But there have been times that some were not what I thought.
