| ![]() My vet said to give her puppy kibble. It's high in calories and vitamins. Good for the puppies when they are weaning and also good for Mom while she's providing the milk. |

| ![]() Well after Destiny had the pups, I give her puppy food (hard kibble) with chicken (boneless, skinless, grilled chicken breast) and with white rice and cottage cheese all mixed in together. The chicken and rice keeps their stool solid and the cottage cheese provides them with a source of calcium. She loved eating it and it kept her energy level and weight up.

| ![]() mine always get a couple of extra meals a day of wet puppy food in addition to the dry i leave out. When babies are born, if it is a large litter, the vet gives me calcuim supplements. i increase the wet meals to three times a day. in the first meal, I add a tablespoon of cottage cheese. The middle meal is plain. The last meal has whelping pudding in it. About a tablespoon or so. This is her diet as long as she is nursing. When the babies begin eating but still nursing, I still give her this. Once the babies are eating more than they are nursing, I gradually cut her food back so that by the time mama has them completely weaned, she is back on her regular diet with no extra meals. I also leave ALL my dogs on dry puppy food because they are breeders. |
