![]() It could be a split heat. That's where there's swelling for a couple of weeks then nothing. Another few weeks later there's swelling and bleeding. Another reason for lack of bleeding is if the female is cleaning herself well.

![]() When Brooklyn went into heat (about a month and a half ago or so) Mikayla bled for two days then went out...so I just figured she's have the "split heat" and Brooke had brought her into it...and that she'd have her real one later. Well about a week ago she swelled...she is most DEFINITELY in heat, I mean she's super swollen, firm nipples, acting like a little b**** (lol)...anyways, but there's NO bleeding whatsoever. I've checked her every day for the whole week and NOTHING. The only thing I know to do is just to watch for her flagging to breed. Is it possible that because she bled for a couple days a month and a half ago that she lost the blood she was going to lose then? I've never had one to do this...it's very strange. ![]()

![]() Yes, it does happen , I had one girl like that no bleeding at all but yes she did accept the male just like a normal dog in heat would do and she did got pregnant and had babies. Just do a search typing "silence heat" and you'll find more info about this.

![]() It's possible that she is keeping herself very clean, and the bleeding is not very noticable. Bella has had gone into heat a few times, but kept herself very clean to where we could hardly tell she was bleeding ![]()

Donating YT 2000 Club Member | ![]() I think there is a difference between a silent heat and a split heat. How often is she swollen--coming into heat? If it is a silent heat and is occurring more often than every 6 months--you might take her to a repro vet. |
