There is a very good chance that she is not pregnant due to the age of both parents. Let's hope for that scenerio.

If you do fine out that she is. I would seek the advice of someone who breeds tinies.

Also counting from the first tie is not always accurate with a young inexperienced male, they sometimes start breeding right from the onset of her cycle.

Waiting until the 2nd heat is so much better for the female. When they are so young a lot of times they will not or can not take care of the puppies correctly. It is better when they are matured as she is still growing and it is just not good for her. As for the male I think he is too young. It can still happen, but usually they don't have real swimmers until around a year old.
I have a girl that is 3 1/2 lbs that my reproductive specialist vet wanted me to breed so I know there are vets out there that want you too. He went as far as stating if it was his dog he would for sure breed her. So you have to think....yes I can breed her BUT should I? Good luck with your little girl regardless of what happens.

You bred two babies? Why? I can not believe ANY vet would be okay with that. At that age, how do you even know if they meet the standard or have any genetic issues? What you just did was equivalent to letting two 10 year olds (humans) have babies together. Neither one of those babies is even fully developed yet. And to be so tiny...3lbs is too small to breed. And her mother is bred twice a year??? That breeder should be ashamed of herself You do NOT breed every heat cycle

First of all I am NOT a breeder and have never had a dog have a litter of puppies so know NOTHING about that. I just want to say good luck with your babies and pray for a safe and healthy delivery if indeed she is pg.

Chance are she may not be because of the age of the male, but she is to little and young to be breed, I waited until Lexie was 2 before breeding her, hopefully she isn't and then you can wait and see if she gets bigger

I can totally understand you wanting to breed, BUT there are certain things that should be researched and learned before you take on a responsibility like this. I am a breeder and Madeline has taught me alot of things thru yorkietalk. I was very anxcious to breed my 1st female but understand the importance of waiting. I did purchase another female for $ 1,250.00 and was told she would be around 6lbs. Same size as my 1st female. I was excited. I found out that she would not be any bigger than 3lbs. I could not bring myself to breed such a small female. I ended up giving her to a relative for a pet. Some people can handle it. I didnt want to put her thru it. BUT now that your little girl is pregant, you need to read as much as possible , she is going to need all the help you can give her. I am glad you understand that this should not have happened. You really do need another vet. Please keep close contact with this forum, people here are extreme Yorkie lovers and even thou you may have done something most dont appreciate, The people here still love the breed and will help you any way that we can. My prayers are with you and the little girl. I hope that everything goes great! Please keep us posted on her pregnancy.

I would get a new vet before the little ones come. Make sure you get someone you really trust. This vet doesn't sound like her knows what he's doing.

OK - Be prepared for me to have my say at the end of this - but for your girl's sake.
Begin counting from the first tie - her first due date would be 58 days from that date. Her last due date will be 63 days from the last breeding.
X-rays are a waste of time until the 55th day - skeleton will not be calcified until that time. Find a Vet in your area that has experience with toy dogs and that works with breeders. YOUR'S DOES NOT HAVE THE EXPERIENCE AND SHOULD NOT BE USED EXCEPT IN AN EMERGENCY!!!!!! An inexperienced Vet will screw up the x-rays. Find a breeder of some toy breed in your area and see who they recommend. And I mean an experienced breeder - not someone that has had a few litters.
Get the book - The Joy Of Breeding Your Own Show Dog. Read it from cover to cover several times and then read it again.
Keep her well fed, with plenty of water - give her exercise. The better shape she is in the more likely she will be able to whelp. Do not start calcium before she whelps - this can lead to eclampsia.
I would highly recommend that you not try to whelp the puppies yourself - if you can find a breeder in your area to help you - DO IT!! This could mean the life of your girl.

NOW - You have done your girl a great injustice. This is the same as letting your 12 year old daughter go out and get pregnant. Your girl is no ready physically or emotionally to have puppies. She is still a puppy herself!!! She is not equipped at this point to raise a litter - no matter what her size. I hope this will not end in tragedy - but I have seen many of these tinies die in whelp. I pray that yours will not be another statistic.

I've wanted to ask this question several times but always go by the wayside (and feel a little silly) but, is there ever an occasion when a litter can be aborted - like in the interest of the mother's life? I'm just curious since I don't think I've ever seen anything posted on it.

I hope your female isn't pregnant and if she is I hope she comes through okay.

Yes, it can be done throughout the whole pregnancy but it is more risky (from what I've been told) closer to the end. It is best to do it in the first part of pregnancy and it seems like that should be done here. She is not done growing herself and it seems having puppies could really injure her.

Of course you can abort a litter. Many dogs are spayed while pregnant & even when a c-section is done. A litter can be aborted at any time during the pregnancy.

If done soon after the breeding - a mismate shot can be given. It will prevent the embryos from attaching to the wall of the uterus. A side effect is that it lenghen the heat cycle so there is a great risk of uteran infection.

There is another shot that can be given latter in the pregnancy but it is very risky to the girl.
