Anyone calling them anything other than that has changed the name, so how can you say the BYTC, is the only one that has changed the name? Who is the BYTC anyway? |

The standard written by Mr. Biewer was White, Blue and Gold. I don't see the word black in that, but some have accepted the standard that was written Donna and Christine, NOT Mr. Biewer, and why? What I don't understand is the how the bbci standard and name are not considered changed. Mr. and Mrs. Biewer ~ Biewer Yorkshire Terrier a la Pom Pon BBCI ~ Biewer a la Pom Pon. Mr. and Mrs. Biewer's standard ~ that of a Yorkshire Terrier except the coloring, White, Blue and Gold BBCI standard ~ Rather white or blue-white broken or closely blue absolute, or black, without brown coloring. Hair on breast, pure white on the belly, and the legs. The head with White-blue-Gold, symmetrically colored. You don't see the difference?? This standard issue is a ridiculous battle. There are very few dogs that even fit the standard the Biewer's wrote. How many dogs have a square body, and pure silk hair? Most people desire the black not the blue, so are we to quit breeding all our dogs with black. How many people are putting dogs in the show ring that have color coming down the legs and getting their titles? How many roached back dogs are getting their titles? |

The BBCA formerly known as BBCI has not changed the name of the breed. |
There will be many Biewers at the BBCA Specialty which adhere to the standard. So, if you wish to see a Biewer that fits the standard perhaps that is where you can start. Responsible breeders work towards breeding to standard...not changing the standard to fit dogs that do not conform. That is the point of having a standard. Do all breedings produce dogs that adhere to the standard? No. Responsible breeders then place these dogs as pets with non-breeding contracts. The answer isn't to say that we are producing mostly dogs with 5 legs so lets include five-legged dogs in the standard. |

If in fact the UCI standard was created by two Mi-Ki breeders then I applaud them for setting the bar for this wonderful breed. It is however a shame that it took a Mi-Ki breeder to have the foresight to see what is in this breeds best interest. I have often wondered what was the difference between a Biewer Terrier and a Biewer other than in name and registry but it seems clearer now...it would appear that the Biewer must adhere to a stricter standard. |
I have a question Sorry if I am intruding on your thread. But I have a question. Why would two mi-ki breeders write a biewer standard? What expertise would they have on the biewer breed? Shouldnt they be concentrating on the mi-ki breed? Just wondering as it doesnt make any sense to me.:) |

Who is judging the specialty? I think I'll attend as an observer. |

We realized that we have a separate breed aside from the Yorkie and clarified the standard after measuring and taking the results of over 100 dogs. I have ask people from the BBCI to measure there dogs and share their results with us and not one person has responded. Why?? One thing that you are right about and that is, as a Biewer Terrier we have a much stricter set of guide lines to go by, both in the show ring and breeding. We also are the only club that has Mrs. Biewer's approval and backing. To answer Yorkiekist's question. Donna dabbled with the Biewer in 2003, and had one of the first documented L.S. cases in the States. After everyone found out that she was still breeding the sister to the dog, among other things, she faded out. Christine, the other Mi-Ki breeder is in Germany and never had anything to do with the Biewers. Your confusion in this matter, is one that we have been trying to figure out ourselves. Do you see that they have changed the standard and the name, or is just me needing new glasses. |
