Actually, someone has to make 'official' decisions regarding Yorkies as a whole. That is where the YTCA steps in. What would be a better solution? It is a fairly large number of 'experts' that have proven themselves. Their numbers are great enough that there is a very wide range of issues being focused on, not just one or two people trying to please a few. There is a similar group for EVERY breed.

That was well said. Why didn't I think of that. YTCA set the standards that they wanted to be reproduced. God has his own ideas, and just to prove that he's still in charge, he throws in these little surprises as a reminder.

There are many who condemn the parti, chocolate, and golden colors (and those who breed them) but little is said about those "reputable" breeders who breed off colored black coats and dogs with golden, red or sooty points? I just don't understand why it seems ok to breed one off color but not another, when all the off colors are against the YTCA's code of ethics?

That depends on who you ask. Some practice only Biewer to Biewer breedings, some integrate standard Yorkies back into the breeding. The progress w/ Biewers right now is very sketchy as it is not a recognized color variation or separate breed by AKC at the current time, so you have several groups of people, all scrambling in a race to be the first to make it official here in the US and no one really on the same page regarding some specific areas....:rolleyes:

I didn't see anyone arguing with you....:confused: The OP was asking for names of reputable parti breeders. It's obvious how you feel about the parti and about those of us that plan to breed them and that's okay beause I have opinions as well. :rolleyes:

sorry it seems sometimes that it gets way out of hand with all the Breeder talk.
AKC recognizes the Parti YTCA does not.
The parti club wants there own recondition. I say Let it be...

Are the YTCA afraid that the Parti will take over the show ring??

Let them get their own standard. And Show. Then we can see who Does better in the ring.
I love both Colors ..And I respect Both Breeders.

First of all, I thought the Biewers were a breed separate from the Yorkshire Terriers. Isn't there a Biewer Club and registry???

I do not know the motives of all parti breeders, I'm sure that some are just in it for the fun or the money. The breeders that I have had contact with have expressed an interest of establishing them as a breed of their own. Perhaps others have in mind to try to convince the YTCA to include the parti color.

The YTCA is just a group of people that made up a bunch of standards. Over the years those standards have changed, I'm sure against a lot of opposition. The group will change and standards will change again and again.

But as it stands now isn't a parti considered a yorkie within the AKC registry? If so, then a parti is a color fault until they are a breed of their own correct? And as it stands now in the ring since it's not a breed of it's own it would be disqualified in the ring. I can only say I breed for show yorkies for myself and not pets but unfortunately not every pup will turn out to be show so I would have to place in a pet home so I do breed to the breed standard or as close as I can and adhere to the YTCA code of conduct and code of ethics and so when an opinion on a public forum is asked I will give an opinion as to what I believe and stand for. It may not be a popluar opinion to a parti or brewer breeder but it's mine and what I believe :) But...I have never said a parti breeder was not reputable I just don't believe in breeding a known fault. Please do not think I'm bashing anyone because I'm not it's just I'm stating what I believe and practice :)

No one ever said they were "God," just a large group of people who have proven themselves with the breed that oversee decisions made on it's behalf. Nothing more. At this point, is there one, united, official parti club that is working towards the right to show this color variation? Are the efforts of parti breeders combined or individual right now?

I was thinking more of the German registry. I imagin here in the states the Biewers are facing as much oppositon as the partis are. And it would probably help if we all got on the same page.

YTCA and AKC is the governing body for the yorkie breed as well as other breeds....it's the way it is and has been for over 100 years, will it change, don't know...

AKC does recognize parti color however, they must go to another area to identify the color as it is not listed on the original boxes given

I think it is wonderful if the Parti obtains their own recognition.

I am Not a Breeder nor will I ever be.
I only support my friends and what I believe.
As I said Before

Again, depends on who you ask as there are many w/ different opinions right now. You think the YTCA is a small group trying to control everything and make all the decisions--take a step into the middle of that and it will make your head spin!:eek:

I understand what you mean. I see the claim made often w/ the off-standard-color yorkies that people are trying to get them recognized, but it seems to me that can't be achieved without unity and a common set of goals. I just don't see that...yet. I also don't understand how they can be a separate "breed" when they came from standard Yorkies, they are just colored differently.:confused:

Currently There is no club that I know of. I would guess if there was one it would be on the internet. Give us time. This is all new to me and to many others. But I can assure you that one day the partis will have a place, with or without the blessings of the YTCA.
