| Inbreeding can bring out the best and it can bring out the worst. If you mean bringing defects forward when you say "get them out" than I guess that would be correct. Case in point, if you highly suspect that Lp is lurking in your lines than inbreeding could bring it out and prove that you are correct. I'm not sure that I could ethically do that just to test a theory. You have to know every possible defect that could emerge in order to evaluate the gamble and it would take many generations to compile that sort of knowledge. Unless your breeder has been dealing with this line for 30 years and can guarantee that any possible pups from this inbreeding wouldn't be born with genetic faults that would make them suffer I wouldn't advise it. I just couldn't take the risk in order to expose any genetic ghosts that may be hiding in her line's closet.

inbreeding Tell the breeder inbreeding is a thing of the past...it reveal faults, but in no way rids the line of faults...infact you can prevent many faults by not inbreeding..a number of problems are rescessive..you can only reproduce that fault by breeding to another dog that carries the same gene...believe me you will have enough problems without trying to get them...

Aside from the whole inbreeding aspect, my advice to you would be to take some more time and figure out what you want to do in regards to long term goals before you continue breeding. Looking back, you seem to have gone through quite a few dogs in a short amount of time. Correct me if I'm wrong, but.... 8/06 You got male Lilo, 'after searching for years to find the right one' 9/06 You got male Vegas (10mths) Sometime between Sept and Dec you got a female (Chanell) 12/06 You put Lilo(?) up for sale after having already rehomed Chanell 4/07 You posts about having a female (Bell, 10mths?) in heat The girl weighed under 4 pounds and you decided to breed her anyway--she had her litter in July, a week early. 8/07 You are looking for another female I *think* I got all of that.... No offense, but you seem to be rushing into things rather than taking the time to study and learn. Find a experienced, reputable breeder (not one that experiments w/ inbreeding) to mentor and guide you. You will not be sorry.

Just to you! Bama Not to be rude or anything just wanted to let you know!!! First let me tell you this "you have no idea" the way our dogs live most PEOPLE dont have the life they do!!! My dogs are just like my kids .... and my right hand! 2. Yes my first dog was a male (LILO) and yes he was the one i searched for yrs but after a year i found out that males are trouble(in my eyes nobody has to agree i just dont like the marking thing and the taking off) So we thought about rehoming him(pet only home) but could not do it!!!! Vegas was a rescue and was nursed back to health and placed with a friend of mine (spayed) Would you keep a dog that bites your 4yr old ?Dont think its worth the Stress ! Chanel is bell " we call her bell for short>>> I understand that we all dont agree with things because i see alot of crazy things on here but i just leave my mean things out!!!! but next time you have some RUDE things to say to me please PM me so i can correct you in private!!!! And please dont assume things it makes an ass out of you and ME !!! Merry Christmas BAMA

i cant stand the thought of getting rid of either of them but i have placed chanell in a good home so now lilo is sad Sorry...I'm sure you can see where that would confuse most people...never at any point in time did you mention that it was one and the same dog nor that you took her back after you rehomed her. Was I correct in her age when she was bred? I don't make a habit of attacking people or starting conflict via PM. If I have a question or response to something, I answer it on the board as we are all adults (?) and then there is no question about opinions have been exchanged. No, I have "no idea" the way your dogs live, but from your previous posts, it seemed to me that with the aquiring, rehoming, taking back, looking for new ones, selling, etc has not provided them w/ a stable home. We don't have to agree. That is fine. You asked for advice and I gave it. I generally look back over a posters previous posts to get more info before I blindly encourage them to take on something as big a responsibility as breeding. Genetics like those you are questioning here are things to be researched well in advance of actually breeding a dog, not 'as you go along.' I stand by the advice I gave--> get a mentor, study up and get some dogs you are SURE you are stable and happy with first. Strong opinions aside, that is good, sound advice no one can argue with. Merry Christmas to you too. Last edited by BamaFan121s; 12-21-2007 at 06:18 AM.
