| So Sad :( Hello, I went to a pet grooming/pet store, because my BF wanted to get sme treats for his pup. Well, they have a room of pups and I decided to look but it was locked. The gal there said if I wanted to see something she would bring it out. (I have been their before and usually you go in the puppy room and view the pups, so I though how weird.) Any way I asked her if she had any yorkies, and she had three. (I wasn't looking to buy, just wanted to see, while my BF was looking around.) First she brough out a male yorkie, he was cute, looked nice and healthy, a little bit big, and had nice big ears. I thought it was weird that I could actually hear and feel the little guys stomach growling. So when I gave him back I let her know she should probably feed him. Second she brought out a yorkie under a year old, but older, that was cute and looked healthy. Lastly she brought out a yorkie female, I saw her face and it looked like she had sticky stuff on her muzzle, I just thought it was food. Well she handed her to me, and I about cried right then and there. This little pup was nothing but skin and bones. Her tummy was growling and you could see she was having some sort of digestive problems. This pup definatly should not have been sold, or have been attempted to be sold. She should have been with a vet. A customer asked me if I was getting her, and I asked the lady to hold her and she just about cried too! I mentioned to the clerk that the pup looked very sick...and she didn't say anything back! On top of that they had a cat climbing around that had snot coming out of its nose, while customers were bring their animals in t be groomed. I have been to this place before and have never seen anything like that, I am going to call tomorrow and maybe see if I can talk to the store owner? What can I do for this pup? Who can I call or contact? I can't imagine someone selling a pup in that condition! They wanted like 1300+ for a pup that I have no doubt in my mind is going to die if something isn't done. Please PM me with advice on what to do...

| I would call animal control, personally...and then contact someone in the upper echelons of the company and lodge a complaint. Maybe call the SPCA too? |

| Oh my goodness..that's horribly sad. I don't know exactly what I'd do, but I do know I'd be making a LOT of phone calls. That's why I try not to go into pet stores anymore. If I saw something like that, I wouldn't be able to sleep probably . Good luck; I hope you can do something positive for the little angels!

| Stores that sell puppy mill animal make me so mad! And that is where the majority of the animals come from! Here are my suggestions: I would call the local animal control. I would also call the store back and ask for the manager and ask who the vet is that tends to their animals. They'll give the info to you if you don't mention the sick pups at first. Call your local news and newspapers to ask them to do a local interest story about the condition of animals in the store. Also contact your local representative and even the governor to ask that they start a bill to ban selling live animals in pet stores, which I feel should be a law in every state. Would put the puppy mills out of business much quicker.I have written a lot of letters and always get responses. If you decide to start a letter writing campaign let others know so we can all help write letters to make a bigger impact. In Nevada the only cats and dogs in pet stores are from the local animal rescues that they bring in to try to get adopted.

| I tried calling the store and they said the main manager would not be in til next week. I called a rescue group today and am going to see on how to go about this. I will also be getting a hold of the animal control and see how else to get the ball rolling. Sadly mostly everything is closed today or closed early. So will have to continue on Monday. But thank you for the advice.

| Is there someone who monitors business licenses that you could also contact? And the Better Business Bureau. Also, contact the media -- these stories need to be told! If you haven't seen the thread in the news section about the Indiana tv station that did the 3 part series, you need to go to http://www.wthr.com/global/Story.asp?s=7399716 watch this - part one, then you can select the other 2 videos over to the side. Maybe you can find a tv station and/or newspaper to do something on these pet stores -- the media can help so much to educate people who do not understand why they shouldn't buy from a pet store - and years ago, I was one of those people

| I'd make a call to animal control, and let them know what's going on.

| In some states animal abuse and neglect is a crime. That pet store should be shut down and the animals treated by a qualified vet. Good luck, and glad you are taking action. |
