Signs of whelping??? Ok, Juliet is 60 days along today. She kept waking me up last night digging where she was laying. Now this morning, she is panting. Just sitting there panting. Do you think she's going to start whelping today?? |
Well, even though those are good signs of impending labor, I think we've all seen those same things described on one day and still have the female go a few more days before whelping. My Lexie basically did the same thing the day she whelped; woke me up whining, couldn't get comfortable in bed with us, didn't touch the breakfast I offered her, then a short time later started shivering (not panting). Before too long we had puppies coming. But as soon as I saw her shivering, I took her temperature, it was 99.5. Have you taken Juliet's temperature this morning? You probably should. Let us know what it is and keep us updated on her progress. G00D LUCK! |

Thank you, thank you, thank you! You guys are all so supportive and nice! I will keep you posted on her progress. I have to go make the skin babies some pancakes and I'll be back! |
She is and has been sleeping on the couch...so we'll see. |
It sounds if she is close but you never know, but with her panting sounds like she is in labor but it may take awhile:) hang in there, and keep us posted:) |
Hi Julietsmom -- first of all, congratulations on your impending new additions. I know you must be excited beyond words. From my very limited experience, I would say that Juliet is either in early stages of labor or quickly progresing in that direction. I am a "mother hen" when it comes to any of my animals birthing -- at this point I would not "intrude" but I would not leave her until the pups safely arrive. |
OMGosh!!!!!!! I want my puppies!!!!! sounds like she is in stage 1!! Coco isn't eating, and temp is 100.0, so she is not acting like she is ready. But today is 60, too. Did you read my post on taking her temp??? Try it, I'd be interested to see what it is. Call me on my cell phone if you want. I am on computer and it ties up phone line, no dsl, here!!! I'm SOOOOOOOO excited for you... Call me.... Lori |
okay girls, we need updates, whats going on with the little mommies:) |
Sorry for the delay in updates, Juliet and I laid down for a nap this afternoon. LOL She still is licking and licking like crazy and is panting again... |

Danyell |
I'm here with you...she is starting to hide under my daughter's bed...and when I call her out, she's panting, and her fur around her mouth is all wet from licking. |
Hey, I'll be checking in all night, too. Coco is licking and licking also. Won't eat. Temp this morn was 100.0 now 99.7??? Hope we are getting close. Juliet may be first....we'll see. Lilli and Lucy are up there, too.....Coco may be last:( I hope it is today or tomorrow!!! Everyone keep everyone posted!!! :) ;) :D |
How exciting for you both. Julietsmom- has she been trying to push? When she pushes you may only notic that it looks like she is stretching her neck. If she hasn't had them soon, I think I would maybe have your vet check her out. Shoot, just realized that they are probablly closed now. The licking is from her trying to have them. Have you had x-rays done so you know how many and if she is big enough to free-whelp? It sounds like it should be really soon Sonya |
I have not noticed her trying to push at all. Juliet is basically laying down. I tore up part of a marshmallow for her and she ate it. I also gave her a treat and she ate it. That is the only thing she has eaten today as far as I know. The licking just started this morning, and I really don't see a reason to be alarmed. She seems fine. |
How do you know if she's contracting? Can you feel it tighten up? |
You can feel her stomach tighten up Quote:
|
Well Im going to watch with you! I love puppy watch!! |
On Lucy her sides and belly get hard then soft contractions are far and few between.I lost her for about 5 minutes she went hiding in the basement  thank goodness I found her:thumbup: ! I am trying to keep her confined to the box now she is occasionally licking herself.she ate a good breakfast and a little lunch but now shes not wanting any food. |
Isn't this great....sounds like she is almost there Jen:D |
Just took her temp. She is 99.3 so what does that mean??? |
