she could have 2 puppies then two placentas they don't have to come puppy then placenta. |
Just called the vet because she has not passed the placenta yet. Waiting for them to call me back. Lori I will call you as soon as they call me. |
KK, read what you wrote to Danyell, she could pass the next pup and two placentas. Ask the vet how long you should wait for her to have another pup?? |
xpect one pup every 45-60 minutes with 10-30 minutes of hard straining. It is normal for bitches to "take a rest" partway through delivery and she may not strain at all for up to four hours between pups. If she is seen straining hard for over one hour or if she takes longer than a four hour break, a veterinarian should be consulted. Expect some puppies (probably half of them) to be born tail first. This is not abnormal for dogs. CALL YOUR VETERINARIAN IF: 30-60 minutes of strong contractions occur with no puppy being produced. Greater than four hours pass between pups and you know there are more inside. She fails to go into labor within 24 hours of her temperature drop. She is in obvious extreme pain. Greater than 70 days of gestation have passed. |

We both thought that, but she isn't acting like she is ready to have another pup yet. It has almost been an hour. We just like trying to cover all the bases. She had the first pup while I was talking to her on the phone. It was so cool!! :D ;) |

May be a long night, though!! |
If she goes more than two hours take her to a vet...does she know how many she might have...did she have a xray:) |
Ive been on the net trying to find out as much info as possible most reccomend my posting so as long as shes not straining she should be okfor awhile but no harm lets see what the vet says. |

No, we don't know how many she is having. It is just an hour right now from first pup. There are more in there though, she can tell that. |
OK, vet called, he said no worries unless she is in distress and straining, which she is not. She is resting, and feeding and licking her baby. She is starting to get antsy again right now and panting, so more is probably coming soon. Lori, I will call you back if it's ok? |
He also said it can be hours between puppies...so here we wait...long night LOL |
This is so exciting! I love watching for puppies!! |

The baby boy is SO CUTE! I am already snapping pics and will post when she's done...I'm so glad it happened tonight when I was home. Thank GOD!:) She seems like such a good mama already! |
Congratulations Jen...how exciting for you....keep us updated...Man two different litters in the same night okay Coco's mom your next....:D |
if there isnt a pup presented after about an hour and she is still in heavy contractions I would begin looking for a ER vet...If she is resting and seems calm then she will be fine until the contractions and panting begins again... to ensure you are getting the placentas when you clip the cord put a hemostat about 1/4" from the puppy belly and another hemostat the other on the exposed cord outside the vulva clip in between...leave both clamped (one on the pup; leave for about 10mins; no bleeding when you take it back off if so reclamp)...other on the exposed cord in about 5-10 minutes pull up slightly on the hemostat outside the vulva the placenta should come right out! |
Congratulations on #1 Jen...Diva just gave birth to her little girl 2 weeks ago so watching this with you guys makes me think of what I just went thru....I'm excited all over again for you guys...and doing it together is even better....we'll have puppies everywhere in notime....waiting on you now Lori!!!! ((((Labor vibes to you)))) Can't wait to see pics... Yolanda |
Well we are still waiting...2.5 hours later. Juliet and baby are sleeping right now. This has turned out to be a long night already!!! I wish something would start happening again soon! |
did you call your vet Jen, let us know...I bet you are wore out:( |
Yes, and he told me that he does not worry if she is not in distress which she plainly is not. He said it can be up to four hours between pups. I'm exhausted! |
bless your heart...hang in there, I bet your little boy is adorable can't wait to see your pics...did you have a xray so you know how many |
Are you sure there are any more puppies in there? Are you able to feel them moving around at all? Best wishes to you and your girl!!:D :D |
I didn't have any xrays or ultrasounds so I have no idea. Her belly is still pretty big and she didn't pass the placenta yet. |
You should be able to feel them moving around if there are more puppies in there. Try palpating her belly gently and see if you feel any. You should be able to feel them easily as they should be moving around. |
Or maybe they are all asleep like we should be. :D :D :D |
