I see what you were saying. Yeah, I am glad this may happen on the weekend, but then again, I wish we had a vet who was on call 24/7 too. I will keep checking in. She is wanting to lay in my daughters room on a velour blanket kind of under the bed but sticking out a little. I want her to be comfortable, but like u said, want to keep an eye on her as well. |
OH my gosh Lucy has just started panting, seems very restless now just cant get comfortable.OHHHH I think it will be soon.:) |
Juliet, if you need some help please feel free to call me with questions....503-777-4224 PLEASE get your girl out from under the bed, she needs to be confined in a quiet save area, along with your whelping bed, kit and heat pad ... contractions are rather obvious her belly tightens up...you can see it happening when you have her calm on her back....most bitches rear their heads or push against something when their in full labor contractions... let me know if I can help |

Wow, that is exciting!!! Coco is still resting here, but under my bed. I have to keep dragging her out every now and then to check on her. Keep us posted!! |
We have 1 baby born placenta is still in lucy do i help it out baby is still connected? |
She's not under the bed, Kimberly, she's laying on a blanket that is halfway out and halfway under the edge of the bed. I can see her clearly. She is sleeping, not pushing, and not contracting. I'm keeping an eye on her. Trust me, she's not going to go through this alone. thank you for giving me your #, it really helps to know that help is only a phone call away! Cool, Lori! Keep me posted on Coco's behavior and progress! |

The pup is still connected shes just not pushing it out yikes! |
This is what I've found: If the puppies are not born in their on placenta, it should be expel next, right after the puppies. It is totally normal for the mother to eat the placentas, but as it has laxative properties, it is convenient to limit its consumption. |
Placentas are expelled after each puppy or sporadically during labor. Pups usually appear every half-hour or so after ten to thirty minutes of forceful straining. |

After delivery of a puppy, the bitch may enter stage III labor. This is the time when the placenta, after birth, is delivered and usually occurs 5 to 15 minutes after delivery of the puppy. If multiple puppies are born rapidly, several placentas may be expelled together. After the passage of the placenta, the bitch will return to stage II labor. She may continue the resting phase or begin contracting. Throughout whelping, the bitch will fluctuate between stage II and stage III labor until all the puppies are born. It is very important to keep track of the number of placentas. There should be the same number of placentas as puppies. If a placenta is retained in the uterus, the bitch will eventually become quite ill. |
