| It's hard to say for sure. I would *think* THIS was her first and treat it as such. |

| 7 months to a year is about average. They can go early. But even if she did 10 months is too young for breeding, she's still a puppy herself IMO |

| I'd say it's her second heat, especially since she showed all the signs of being in heat except for bleeding. Not all dogs bleed during their heat cycle. Lacy never bled when she had her first heat cycle, but she was definitely in heat. Also, there is no rule saying a dog has to go into heat every 6 months - it varies from dog to dog....looks like yours is on an every 5 months cycle

| At 5 months, that's just a puppy heat. I wouldn't count that as her first heat cycle. Since she has blood and is in full blown heat, I would count this as her first.

| noooo i would not think of breeding her now! i know she is still a baby, i still havent made up my mind if i want to put her through all that anyway. i want to, and i really think i would love to breed because my most favorite thing to do is to take care of babys and i am home 24/7 anyway. but i look at her and think of all the what ifs. i am just trying to figure out if the first heat was real or not so i know what to look for in the future.

| I don't know about cute, but I use the little swimmers for kids on ours. The ones for dogs don't work...they always seem to shift just enough for the tail hole to line up and allow leakage. Swimmers might be hard to find now though... |

| The average heat cycle is every 7 months, but, it can be anywhere between 4-12 mos..If you're going to breed, I would defininitely wait until she comes in to heat the next time.. |
