She Sees the Light!

My landlord talked to me today about the electic bill being too high. She asked if I could turn the lights off when I leave. I told her I would do the best I could.
I'm home most of the day and I keep the lights off, but I'm sure that she's noticed when I leave I keep a few lights on and also the television for Lola.
It's not my fault she was too cheap to have someone rewire the house when she bought it. Yes I understand that I don't pay for electricity, but my cost in rent reflects that fact. I don't think that I abuse the priviledge of not having an electric bill. I try to conserve energy by opening the blinds so that I don't have to turn on lights during the day, but my dog is not going to sit in the dark all alone for even ten minutes.
I know she's not working right now, but neither am I. Times are tough and I refuse to let my dog suffer for it. I made a committment to her and I'm not going to let her down. I already feel guilty leaving her alone as it is.
Plus her daughter also rents from her. It's summertime and we have fans in a lot of our rooms, but her daughter has two air conditioners. I'm sure that has to account for at least part of the rise in electrical costs. I highly doubt that she's talked to her daughter about how much electricity she is using.
I'm sure that she's going to raise the rent when the lease is up...by $100 at least. My boyfriend said that he won't stick around if it goes up one hundred bucks. I'm glad. I'd rather be responsible for my own electric bill and not have to deal with the hassle. Too bad the lease isn't up until April.
