Priscilla to the Rescue

Well, I am pleased to say that I am home after a 9 day admission in the hospital... when I first went to the ER, I had my priscilla with me, she is my service animal for diabetes. (we are training her to alert to other smells that trigger my asthma as well), they accepted her with no trouble, in fact she was the queen of the show. I had never had so much attention from all the nursing staff. Then I was admitted... bummer but they allowed priscilla to stay, many offers of course to take her potty or for a walk, to play etc... then on my second day my nurse walks in and notices that priscilla is alerting me, she says..." Is your dog alerting you that your blood sugar is high?" I said " Actually yes she is." the nurse very excitingly say " Oh wow... lets check..." She runs out grabs the meter pokes my finger and says" How high does it have to be for her to alert you?" I said" she starts to alert me when it nears 200 give or take a few." Just then the meter beeped and the excited nurse exclaims" It's 197... I can't believe it, that is so awesome, and she is so cute, she is the best service animal in the world." She then went out grabbed a camera asked if she could take a picture and then printed me this great picture of priscilla and me in the hospital. they now have it hanging and she has been dubbed the " the best service animal in the world". While a trip to the hospital is never good, I was happy that priscilla was taken seriously, and that roughly 50 employees of the hospital came face to face with a service animal and learned something new. They have a new respect for them. I always new my prescious little girl was worth it, but now they do to!
