I am having my Yorkie (Topaz) neutered this week. Do I have anything to be concerned about? Will he have any after effects and how long until he is back to normal? Any info will be welcome.
Thank you in advance.

![]() | I've not had to deal with aftercare with a neutering so I'm afraid I don't know any advice to give you... You could try searching on the forum though for neutering or maybe post this question on the forum in the Health section. ![]() |

![]() | Hello! I guess we are in the same boat, I'm thinking about neutering my baby really soon, and have been reading all sorts of things about getting this done. My sister-in-law has a yorkie also, and she got him neutered when he was about 1 and he did have to wear one of those cones, so they won't lick themselves, but as far as to other complications he was fine. From what I read, you have to be careful, and pay close attention to the pup, it should be about a week until the pup should be okay and back to normal. Just make sure they don't lick the stitches and when you do bring them home after the procedure, make sure they don't drink/eat a whole lot since they will be still kind of drugged up. Also before the procedure, don't make them drink/eat as well. It's the same if we were suppose to go get surgery where they don't want us to eat before. I hope this helps, you can find more information on the net of course! Let me know how it goes!!! You can always ask your vet just to see what's up and if they have other information they can give you. |

![]() | I had TJ neutered earlier this month.. It went well.. He was still a little sleepy when I picked him up. He ate a tiny bit of meat later but mostly he just slept. He loved being held. The next morning.. he was walking and eating fairly well. Except for a little stiffness.. he was walking around. He still slept a lot that day.. and of course you do not want them jumping onto or off of anything, for several days. By the 3rd day.. you would never know he had anything done. Keeping him fairly quiet was a chore.. but it worked out well. I am so glad I had it done. |

![]() | This is great info. Thanks. Our little lucky is only about 3.5 lbs. I am concerned that he is too small but the vet says this is fine. How big was TJ when you had him neutered? |
