And henceforth, today shall be known as Thor's Day.
It might be confusing, having Thor's Day and Thursday in the same week, but it must done.
Thor had an unbelievable day today. First, at doggie daycare, they said he played for reals with not one, but TWO dogs, for the very first time ever. The daycare said after he played, he strutted around the center like he was the biggest, baddest dog alive.
I teared up when they told me because I am such a sap. But really, after almost a year of really good daycare, Thor finally has the courage to play! It warms my cold, bristly heart, it does.
Second, we went to our first Nose Work class tonight. It's the first class we've ever done, together or separately. Thor did okay, I did okay, and now he's conked out like he's been running for days. And he got to eat the best thing of his entire life, 1/3 of a McDonalds hamburger (for Nose Work, you are supposed to use something extremely motivating for the dog that they don't get anywhere else).
Some of the dogs were obvious naturals, which Thor was not. However, the instructor said he has surprisingly high drive for a little dog, and this should also help him get over his fear of boxes. Who knows, maybe this will spill over and help him overcome his fear of containers generally - paper, plastic, handbags, who knows? The sky's the limit!
