Lump on Tail

My 6 year old female yorkie, Josie, has developed a lump on the side of her tail. She had a few fleas on her last week, and was constantly biting and scratching them. I fogged my house, and got her some frontline. I also gave her a good flea bath and the fleas seem to be gone. I noticed the lump last week, but I thought maybe it was just were she was biting at the fleas. Well its still there and I don't know what to do. It is about a half inch big. It is very pinkish red and squishy, but on the end it is dark dark red, almost black and it is hard on the end. I think I am just going to make her a vet appointment for tomorrow, but I was wondering if anyone else has had this happen to their pet?
