Doobie keeps having accidents

i have had Doobie since he was 4 mths old, he jus turned a year yesterday. it was pure hell potty training him. i thought that he was good on not pottying in the house, so i started leaving him out of his crate at night. for the first week or so, he would wake me up if he had to use the bathroom, but i have been finding out that lately he has been pooping in the back room. he used to giv eme sign by lookin at me or messing with the glass door shades to take him out. and now he doesnt do taht often. what can i do?
