Potty Training blues!

My 14.5 wk old know's outside means potty. I refuse to use potty pads, and the outdoors as a training method. Its to confusing for him. Everytime he goes outside he does go. However, sometimes he likes to go inside as well. Understand he's very young. Everyone says oh a yorkie...there awful to train...good luck with that. Does anyone own a yorkie that isn't going in there house? Tried the bell he's affraid of it. But still trying to get him to ring it. Bought the how to housebreak your puppy in 7 days, that wasn't any different than the discussion I had with the vet. The book indicates not to expect greatness until 16 wks or older. I'm holding them to it. If we manage housebreaking next we'll work on biting! I know its all play but it's becoming a little to much play. Dexters Mom feels he'll never get it. Oh and he's like a kid whom ate an entire bag of sweet tarts for dinner and followed it up with grape koolaid! Wound like a top! But is a lovie when he wants to be. I think its all on yorkie terms!

house trainingMy Yorkie was really hard to train. As a matter of fact he still is. However, the pads did not work for him either. He does go in my backyard and in the street during our walks. I also tried the crate training but the crate I had for him was way too bug. I finally was able to get him a smaller crate and it has been very useful for him. He has had his mistakes but overall they have minimized. He does not eliminate in my house, unless he gets extremely excited to see me when I get home from work, but I have faith that he will eventually get it. Well I do not know if this was helpful but maybe it will help you. | |
