New bad-behavior

Hi everyone.
This is my first blog and I am in desperate need for advice.
My 7 and a half month old boy, Cuba has started to act very badly.
He has become very possessive of all his toys, especially his treats and chew toys. Though most of the time i don't mind this, he is now attacking - well trying to attack/bite - anyone else who comes near him.
This really "hit-home" when my 3 year old nephew came over today and Cuba was so angry, aggressive and possessive. I had to remove all his toys from the room - but still he carried on. He sat in front of my nephew and watched him - every-time he got up Cuba charged at him squealing and growling! it was an awful experience!
What can I do? Obviously he is a possessive and jealous little wee one, however when it comes to small children he turns into this crazy dog! He is normally such a beautiful and well mannered puppy, he is so sweet and funny - but when it comes to children and his treats he turns nasty!
please help us to help Cuba be the sweet puppy we all know he is!
thanks!

![]() | Sounds like his hormons are starting to kick in. Are his testicals dropping? Alfie was getting the same at about the same age, though not the child aggression. He became toy possesive and very frustrated, chewing up the soft toys and humping constantly. I'm afraid the best solution is castration, I didn't want to do Alfie but its done wonders for him, that and some serious training. |

![]() | He's been neutered already! about 1 and a half months ago! He's been to puppy school and he has been through all the "good doggie" behavior classes! He does g to doggie daycare and gets picked on by the bigger dogs who steal his food - i think hes picked up the behavior there - you know - survival of the fittest! - but i don't know what to do about him getting aggressive around children???? |

![]() | do you watch the dog whisperer? The only other thing I can think of is he sees the kids as week 'energies'- his term- and is trying to put himself above them in the pack. Ceaser covers these problems in several programs. Just because he's fixed doesn't mean he wont try it on Alfie also has problems with kids, he loves them but if they grab him he will snap at them as a warning, my niece is the main culprit as she has a learning deficiancy in which she has trouble with taking information in so no matter how often shes told she still will grab him, not that she takes much notice and he'll follow her everywhere. You need to start asserting your possition as pack leader. I hate to think what Alfie would be like if I didn't It not being cruel, dogs need to know whos boss. You could try posting your problm on the training forum where you can get more input. Good luck and hope it all works out, I'll keep checking in. |

![]() | incaac I hope you get an answer. I have two delightful females that are only two weeks apart in age. After their first heat at 7 1/2 and 8 months of age the 7 1/2 month female won't let anyone come near me or even look at me. The 8 month old taunts her by jumping up and down on my lap or close to me to get the younger one stirred up. The first fight was just out in the open living room and the youngest one ended up with a hurt leg. I keep them in separate kennels and only one is out at a time so they can no longer be close. Then the other day I guess the latch on the kennel didn't get latched and the young one came out and it took quite a bit of time and a few dog bites for me to get them separated with thick blankets. Both were hurt and bleeding. I'm so scared one is going to kill the other one. I don't know what happened because they are both such wonderfully content and loving puppies otherwise. Any suggestions on how I can reintroduce them to each other or is it just keeping them apart for the reset of their lives/ I have never had any dogs fight like this before. Thank you. |
