Why the name "Ellie"?

When we first talked about getting a yorkie, I swore that I would call her "London". For some reason I love that name and knowing that the breed comes from England it seemed to fit!
Well, 3 years later and her name has changed thanks to input from my children. My 7 year old said that she would be a princess and so we needed to give her a princess name. She wanted "Cinderella" but that was a little too long so we settled on "Ella"...meaning beautiful fairy. That seemed to fit but I kept calling her "Ellie".
We took a family vote and decided to look up the meaning of "Ellie" and then decide which would be a better fit for our new little girl...after we met her!
Well, "Ellie" means shinning light and beautiful woman. After meeting her we knew right away that our new baby would be "Ellie"! She was the most active of the litter (shinning light) even though she was the runt and she is beautiful...if I do say so myself!
So, there ya go! Ellie it is!
