Mating Question

I have a 14 mo old female that weighs 3 pounds. I would like to mate her so we can have her puppies. I know I will need a smaller male to mate her with but I dont know what a safe weight would be for a male. I would also like to find someone in the OKC area with a full blood AKC male. Can someone give me some pointers please?

![]() | I would advise not to mate her at all. It would be a huge health risk to her and the chances of complications arising is high. If you are really interested in breeding and won't change your mind about it, why not out the small female in a great home (Spayed), and get a larger female. And having a smaller male matters a little but that shouldn't be your main focus. Check the lines to see if they threw larger dogs or smaller. You can get a 3lb male that will produce 5lbers. Also, make sure you go through the necessary tests to see if they are fit and healthy. That the lines that you are breeding doesn't have health problems. If I can help you in any way, please get back at me, but their is many others that know more about this than me/ GOOD LUCK!! |

![]() | I wouldn't mate her. 3 lbs is tiny and she most likely could be at risk to die or have a c-section, which she may not wake up from. The puppies may be too big for her too carry, even if the male is smaller, there's too many health risks involved, please just don't do it! |
