head injury questions

hi i am looking for a little info for my baby boy. we had an accident the other day. my daughter was setting up a bed and the head board fell on him. the head board was quite heavy and he is only four pounds. he took quite a blow. we rushed him to the vet. they said that he was in shock and it was very important to get him out of shock first. after he started to come around the doctor did an xray and found no broken bones. he did have a very bruised left eye and the doctor said he didn't know the outcome, so he sent him home with us. he lies around and keeps his head turned to the left all the time, and when you let him walk he walks in circles. he respondes to his name he will drink and eat with a little help. does anybody know or have any ideas about the situation or what we can do to get him back to health.

![]() | I am so sorry to hear about your baby's accident. It seems to me that he may not be able to see from the one eye. You'll need to recheck with the vet to see if they can do any thing. Walking around and even looking may be makikng him dizzy and nauceous therefore not eating. Good luck and we will pray for you. |

![]() | Not to many people read the blogs, there are more for personal diaries. To learn how to use Yorkietalk and post on the forums, see this thread. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/yor...orkietalk.html. It sounds like this would be a good question for the health forum. ![]() | It sounds as if he suffered neurological damage to the brain. As in a stroke with a human, it is difficult at first to tell how permanent the damage may be. Some therapies may help but if he's not eating he may need to be fed thick consistency liquid foods, you certainly need a good vet that will help you rehabilitate this little guy if it is possible. |

![]() | This was not the entire message, i don't know what happened to the rest ~ is your little boy ok now??? He should be seen at a specialty hospital ot university vet school. High intracranial pressure can be resolved with a shunt and without brain damage! |

![]() | head injuryThat sounds like a terrible accident. I have to agree with the brain damage. Especially given his disorentation. You really need a good vet who is really willing to try for you or at least be honest with you. There are some vets that have the attitude that these little guys are too small and really won't put any effort into trying to help them. Good Luck to you and your baby ![]() ![]() |
