I'm pretty sure she is because her private is swollen and she keeps licking herself, i also saw red spots near it. The weird thing is Teddy is not going crazy at all, he doesn't even seem to notice or care which is a great thing! Of course my eyes are glued to them at all times but I thought male dogs go crazy when they're not neautered? Oh well I'm glad he's not. Anyway I was wondering if she is in pain, do they get cramps? Is there anything I should give her? Awww my baby is grown up! I can't believe it, she is almost 10 mos old. Now I have to wait to get her spayed

Rut Roh! I totally know what you are going through as Faith got hers at 6 months and Buffy got hers just two weeks before she was going to be spayed. I better stop procrastinating on Q (she needs her baby teeth pulled so I had to wait) or I will go through it a third time

. I'm not sure if they are in pain but I think some do get cramps at first. I know when Buffy started her menses she would whine at first every time she bled. Awe, London is growing up

We went through that with Luna too, I never thought she would go into heat since she's so small, but I was WRONG

Anyway, I don't think that Teddy will be interested in her until she's actually fertile, which occurs sometime around 10 days after their first bleeding day. I'm not 100% on that, so you may want to ask down at the Breeder board. I didn't have to worry, since we have no males, but you should prepare to keep them separated really soon

I think that they do get cramps, though there's not much you can do about that. She might become extra clingy, or she might want to be alone. Just follow her cues and she'll tell you what she wants

I'm still wondering when Hoku will go into her first heat. I neutered Kalani early just so I wouldn't have to worry about Hoku getting pregnant since her heart murmur is preventing me from getting her spayed

I know I can't believe it! I also need to have like 2 teeth pulled from London that makes her breath smell BAD! lol

Ooo ok I will keep an eye on him. He will be getting nuetered soon anyway. So far she isn't acting any different, she's seems very tired though, sleeps a lot. But I did walk them so maybe that's why. Pretty much everything else is the same. She just keeps licking herself, yuck! I'm going to put her diaper on now!

Hey girl, Miss London is growing up.

Trixie was fixed before she went into heat but Pia wasn't. She didn't go into heat until about 14 months. There wasn't a huge difference with her personaility. I was amazed on how much blood came from her. Sorry, I don't mean to be gross but it was alot I thought for such a tiny girl. My vet said it might have been because she went into heat so late in age.

I hope this all goes fast for you guys. Give London kisses from us.

I'm so glad to see this thread. When I gave Lily her bath this morning I noticed how swollen she was and panicked. Then it dawned on me that maybe she was in the beginning of heat. There's no bleeding, but she's very swollen. Is this a typical indicator of heat? Is there anything else I should know? I'm clueless.

Awww, little London is all grown up! Im sure you know this already..but I would keep them completely seperated..even have Teddy go stay with someone else if possible. Since she's only 2.5 lbs..well..you know.. anyways..good luck!

Put a pair of pants on her to be sure - just doctor one of your own pair to fit, and make sure he doesn't get them off - he will be interested in a week or two, so watch them - knickers give you a bit of time before he could get at her....good luck !

p.s the surgery isn't nice, but I am so relieved to have my girlies done(Tara and Tammy), as I have a man in the house too ! (Casper)

Thanks guys! She's still in heat but barely bleeds. Her nipples are a little bigger than usual so watch out for that, the lady that asked. Teddy hasn't acted interested in her at all, but he has never been a humper. He never ever humped her or anything, just my bf's arm once LOL She has diapers on anyway and when I can't watch them they are always separated

Watch her cause when she starts flagging moving her tail to the side, thats when he is going to go nuts, its like they are on a mission and don't take there eyes off the prize , so to speak, get you some diapers for her and a belly band for him...Go Luck, he will be going nuts in a few days....its hard to believe she is growing up, I can remember when you first got her

He won't become interested until about the 3rd week, when she is fertile. A diaper won't help. I would keep them seperated, accidents happen quickly.
