Anyone on here know of any repetuable min pin breeders? My little sis is looking for one. Thanks for any information!

there are several min-pin rescue groups in the south! My friend adopted from them and got a WONDERFUL baby.... google min pin rescue... Scrappy is a wonderful boy.

Unfortunatly rescue has never worked out for me or her. I've filled out applications and have always been denied. My sister has a handicapped child. (She suffered a stroke while she was being born.) Rescue has denied her because of her child. The physical theripist said that a pet would be good for my neice. My little sister works and they live in a small house. She wants a min pin because they don't have much hair and they are smaller but sturdier. She has done alot of research on the breed. She can't afford to get one so I was going to get one for her.

Welllllll......this just makes me mad

. Unless your niece is combative, or your family would not watch her and allow her to hurt the dog, this is the kind of discrimination that keeps society in the dark ages! I COMPLETELY understand about the responsibility of the rescues to place pups with safe homes; but there are MANY families with "handicapped children" who have pets! Aaaaaand, we manage to care for our children, and keep the pet safe. I suppose I would not be allowed (in some states) to rescue a dog, because my daughter was injured by the dpt vaccine, and has been left with severe disabilities (non-verbal, non-ambulatory, "profound" retardation, and severe, intractable seizures). My Mozart (25lbs) has managed to live a happy, injury-free life, for lo these 12 years. In fact, he suffers separation anxiety when we put Hannah in her wheelchair, because he knows she's going out of the house. Abigail (6lbs) has manged to grow into a healthy, happy, injury-free 1 y/o, who is NOT afraid of my daughter. In fact - she goes to Hannah during a seizure to comfort her! We do have to watch this, as she could be injured - but we all DO WATCH - and, Abbie has learned when to move. <g> Aaaand, I'd like to ask the Rescue Shelter people: how many pups have been injured on purpose from 'normal' children tossing them in the air, or stepping on them by accident? Aaaaand, speaking of seizures - what about dogs who specialize in detecting seizures in epileptics? Or, service dogs to many and varied 'handicapped' children/people?

OK, now that THAT's off my chest: have you thought of the local SPCA? Why does she necessarily need a Min Pin? If the therapist is recommending a pet for her development, then there are any number of dogs looking for a loving home sitting on death row.

Yes, she is aware of the numberous animals that need a home. She has tried the local humane society and they won't adopt to her either since she lives in a tiny house. Her daughter has always been good with my animals and has never hurt any of them. They tried a cat but her daughter was allergic to it. She decided on a min pin since they are a short haired breed she figured it would be easier to care for. She did one of those puppy match things and the min pin was the top of the list for her. I was hoping to find a good breeder and get a pup or even a retired breeder for my neice.

I just wanted to put in the Min Pins still shed, even though they are short-haired. I dont know if that would still affect her daughter's allergies?? Maybe a non-shedding breed would work a little better?? Im sure she has put in alot of research already, but I just wanted to throw that out there!!

Through the years we had Dobermans, love the breed, however ours shedded a lot even with great grooming. I am really sorry to read that they are being discrimenated in getting one from a rescue or animal shelter, due to her daughter being handi capped or the fact her home is too small. I used the word DISCRIMENATION because to me it is. That is not right. I hope you will be able to find the right breed for your niece. I totally agree with the physical thereapist that a pet would be good for your niece and your sister too. Baby Blessing is a world of comfort to Jack as well as myself, we feel very fortunate to have found her after the loss of our Cassie. Please keep us updated in finding one for her. My prayers for your little niece as well as your sister, it is the hardest and most difficult thing in life to have a love one afflicted with a disability such as caused from a stroke or a disease. I was thinking this, too. My sister has a min-pin, and you can't even touch her without hair coming off everywhere!

Dogs don't seem to set her allergies off just cats. My sister is looking for short haired breed so she doesn't have to worry about keeping it brushed due to matting. She is prepared to brush the dog 1-2 times a week but not daily like we do with our yorkies.

We didn't have the problem of matting with our Dobies but we did brush them daily because of their shedding so badly. We had a special mit that we used in brushing them as they really shedded and the regular brush just didn't work as well. In all honesty we have never had a dog that we only brushed once or twice a week.

My little sis got her daughter a new dog today. It is a mini schnauzer. I have a breeder freind that just gave her one when I talked to her and told her the situation. They are all enjoying each other now.
