| ![]() I dont know why, but Maggie stinks. Kizzy has never smelled like that altho both of them do smell like outside dogs when they first come in from playing outside if its kinda hot out especially. But I can give them both a bath. I dont smell kizzy even a week later except the outside I was saying. But Maggie gets a bath with the exact same thing, the exact same procedure and soon as she dries, to me , she stinks. But its not like just a yard dog smell. you know how it smells in some kennels where they have a lot of new puppies and lay around together and people dont keep it clean? (I suppose like maybe a puppy mill maybe, not sure or a pet store smell thats not clean). But anyway thats what she always smells like lately. She is kept clean but if some days I dont spray her down with cowboy magic detangle and brush her, she simply stinks most days. Seems like its gotten worse since she got older to me. She didnt stink when I got her other than a puppy smell that wasnt bad or strong. Anybody got any idea why she would smell like that? I dont think its the food because I've changed their food at least 5 times since I got her plus they both eat the same thing. They eat science diet lamb and rice for now. I mean she dont stink all the time when she stays in the house but this smell isnt just yard dog. I leave them out when its pretty for maybe 30 minutes to and hour off and on during the day as they love it outside. Kizzy comes in and smells like dirt or yard dog for a few minutes. it goes away after she gets in where its A/C. Maggie just has a total different smell and I dont know how to describe it. She goes to the vet tomorrow and I will ask them what it could be but someone here might have some ideas. would yall please answer this asap if you have any idea? I'd sure be thankful.

| ![]() Have you noticed any kind of skin infection going on? You also might check her ears to make sure there is no infection going on in that area as well. Have you checked her teeth to make sure there is no problem? Sometimes an infected tooth or teeth can also cause an unpleasant odor or if there is puppy teeth along with adult teeth and maybe the puppy teeth have not all fallen out. Another area to check would be her anal gland.

| ![]() It isnt coming from her mouth nor her ears. It comes from her totally. like i pick her up and smell here and she just stinks. I dont know nothing about anal glands other than I've read a few thing here about it. I am gonna ask the vet to ck everything tomorrow. LOL and you two that had the big vet bills, mine better not be that much or i'll be finding a clinic for them. actually it could be her ears cause when I pick her up I just kinda lean down and smell around the back of her head and neck. but thanks for the tips and anybody else got any? please share. I'll see what the vet says tomorrow and i'll post it and i'll also post the cost. she is only going for another shot, i think her rabies shot and get her nails clipped. he dont usually charge for the nails. I'll be back on after while and see if theres more tips, mean while i'm gonna go smell her ears.

| ![]() I have a male who is 3 years old. I got him when he was 2 years old. He's a sweet dog but he smells terrible all the time. I bathe him frequently, once a week and I've had him groomed but their shampoo and conditioner don't smell as good as the shampoo and conditioner I use at home. My son has a femal Yorkie and she doesn't stink like Elvis, my Yorkie. He's been to the vet - not ears, teeth, anal glands, etc. causing the smell. ![]() |

Thor's Human Donating Member | ![]() It can also depend on their diet. I know I saw a couple threads on a "stinky yorkie" in the Health forum a few months ago. I'd suggest doing a search and seeing what foods people switched to. What does she smell like? Is it fishy? BO? Something rotting? Not to be gross, but this can help pinpoint what is causing the odor. |

| ![]() I know what you are saying. My Westie has always had a fowl odor. Kinda like if he would be eating garbage. Its his skin.No allergies or anything. He has always had this smell since he was a baby. He is now 8 years old. There is nothing wrong with him just the way he was made.I have smelled some humans that have this problem also.Good Luck BAMA |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | ![]() If she has an all-over smell, you should really get her checked for yeast and/or have a skin scraping. Yeast can get incredibly out of hand if you wait.

| ![]() I agree that it could be a yeast infection. Google yeast in dogs and read about it. I believe they say it smells musty? But I forget exactly.
