![]() My yorkie is only 12 mo. old...I've had her about two mo....when I got her she had a beautiful coat... but she has been scratching around her head and face and has lost alot of her hair... My groomer treated her with frontline...I've also treated her with Adams Flea & Tic...Is this the problem? I usually bathe her about every three days..I use Panteene smoothe and sleek shampoo and conditioner. What am I doing wrong? Please help!!!

![]() It sounds like it may be a case of ear mites, have you had the vet check yet? Ear mites can be so irritating and they will scratch at the head and ears. I have only had one case of this after one of my dogs spent some time at a friends house, I hope I never see it again!!! Debbie Ray www.sumtoiyorkies

![]() Yes I did take her to the vet and he gave her a clean bill of health. He checked her ears and said they looked good. Thanks for replying..

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | ![]() Have you tried an oatmeal Shampoo and are you rinsing really really well ? It could be the shampoo you're using - poor baby ...it sucks being itchy. Try letting her go longer between baths. When Chanel was playing in the hose every day a few summers ago she got itchy - I bought some Veternarians Best - Moisture Mist SKIN CONDITIONER....it's sold at Petco and I swear - in 24 hours or less she had stopped scratching. It's NOT a hair conditioner - but a skin conditioner for itching. |

![]() I would try to only bathe her once a week at the most and switch to a pet shampoo/conditioner. I wouldn't use a shampoo that people use like someone else said the ph balance is different.

![]() Try using MInksheen pet shampoo, here is a link where you can get it, http://www.touchofmink.com/prod_details.asp?id=15 and when you use a conditioner, put a little conditioner in a container, add a couple of drops of either pet silk oil, or the silk spirits and mix well with about a quart of water. Pour this over the dog, make sure you get some up on her head by either using your hand or slowly pouring it on the top of her head. Run your hands over her and make sure it gets down to the skin, leave in and dry. The oils will penetrate into the skin and help, and with the minksheen shampoo there are oils that help also. I use this on my show dogs all the time.
